Democrats can’t defend their positions. Instead, they’ll just try to shut you up.

And now the White House is moving behind closed doors to completely silence conservatives.

A Washington Post reporter openly suggested that the Biden White House step in to censor what they label as “misinformation” from the highly anticipated interview between X owner Elon Musk and former President Trump.

During Monday’s press briefing, Cleve Wootson Jr. of The Washington Post urged the White House to take action, framing so-called misinformation not just as a “campaign issue,” but as “an America issue.”

Wootson Jr. posed a question to White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre, asking:

“What role does the White House or the president have in sort of stopping that or stopping the spread of that or sort of intervening in that? Some of that was about campaign misinformation, but, you know, it’s a wider thing, right?”

In response, Jean-Pierre echoed the narrative that social media platforms hold a “responsibility” to crack down on misinformation, adding that the Biden administration is “mindful” of these companies being private entities.

“It is incredibly important to call that out, as you’re doing. I just don’t have any specifics on what we have been doing internally,” Jean-Pierre said.

This exchange sparked a wave of backlash on social media.

“My God,” RealClearPolitics co-founder Tom Bevan reacted in disbelief.

“An insane thing for a reporter to say,” remarked podcast host Noam Blum.

Conservative lawyer Mike Davis directly addressed Wootson, calling out his actions. “Truly pathetic, @CleveWootson,” Davis said in a post on X.

“You are a White House reporter for @washingtonpost. And you think your job is to collude with the White House press secretary to censor Americans with whom you disagree? Do you understand how dumb and dangerous you sound? You’re truly shameful.”

Washington Examiner columnist Tim Carney expressed his disappointment, writing, “I hope everyone else at the Post forswears this anti-free-speech campaigning.”

National Review senior editor Charles C.W. Cooke took aim at the Post’s infamous slogan, “Democracy Dies in Darkness,” sarcastically noting, “The Washington Post trying to get the government to shut down private citizen interviews with presidential candidates. Because democracy dies in people speaking freely.”

Conservative X personality Sunny also took a jab, stating, “These people need to lose their jobs.”

Versus Media podcast host Stephen L. Miller didn’t hold back, criticizing Wootson as an “anti-speech activist” and accusing him of “begging the Biden admin to punish @elonmusk for doing journalism.”

Mollie Hemingway, editor-in-chief of The Federalist, called Wootson out, writing, “This Washington Post propagandist @CleveWootson is an anti-speech activist.”

As of now, The Washington Post has not responded to request for comment.
