You may have forgotten Joe Biden is the president of the United States, and we wouldn’t fault you for it. But he’s still doling out damage like never before.
And now he just threw a wrench in Republican’s attempts to limit non-citizen voting.
President Biden is once again showing his true colors, vowing to veto a House Republican bill that would tie a six-month government funding extension to a much-needed measure requiring proof of citizenship to vote in federal elections.
This move comes as no surprise from an administration that has consistently prioritized partisan politics over the security and integrity of the nation’s election system.
The White House’s excuse? They claim the GOP’s proposal would set government spending “at insufficiently low levels” for six months.
Instead of working with Republicans to ensure fiscal responsibility and protecting taxpayer dollars, Biden wants to keep kicking the can down the road with short-term stopgaps.
But make no mistake — this isn’t about government spending, it’s about blocking any effort to safeguard the voting process.
The administration is particularly rattled by the citizenship requirement, calling it “unnecessary” and alleging it would make it harder for eligible Americans to register to vote.
But here’s the truth: without such measures, the risk of voter fraud remains unchecked, and Biden is clearly not interested in taking any meaningful steps to prevent noncitizens from voting.
The White House insists that “states already have effective safeguards in place,” ignoring the glaring failures in election integrity that many Americans have been raising for years.
Meanwhile, Biden’s administration hypocritically supports $10 billion for FEMA’s Disaster Relief Fund but complains about the exclusion of funding for other disaster recovery programs.
It’s clear this is another example of Biden trying to exploit disaster relief to push for bloated, unchecked spending in other areas, instead of addressing the actual issue at hand.
The administration also cries foul over the exclusion of funding for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Social Security Administration, and other programs.
But where has Biden’s concern been when his administration has recklessly expanded government spending without addressing real issues like veteran care or Social Security processing backlogs?
In their typical fashion, the White House accuses House Republicans of “brinksmanship,” when in reality, it’s Biden’s administration that refuses to engage in good-faith efforts to fix the government’s runaway spending and secure the nation’s elections.
The proof-of-citizenship requirement is not only reasonable, but it’s essential in preserving the integrity of the voting process — something the Biden White House seems more than willing to compromise for political gain.
Even some Republicans are voicing their frustrations with the bloated spending.
Rep. Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican, made it clear that he’s not falling for the administration’s games, saying, “Congress is spending our country into oblivion, and this bill doesn’t cut spending.”
Yet Biden’s administration continues to play politics while America’s financial and electoral future hangs in the balance.
