Democrats still can’t get over Donald Trump’s 2024 election victory. It will haunt them for years to come.
And a radical Leftist went on MSNBC and had an aneurysm over Trump in a must see moment.
Stacey Abrams, the two-time Georgia gubernatorial candidate, shared her perspective on Donald Trump’s recent election victory during an interview on MSNBC’s All In with Chris Hayes Monday evening.
Abrams pushed back against the idea that President-elect Trump’s win represented a dramatic transformation in the country’s political landscape.
“We keep misremembering what happened in November. Yes, Donald Trump won the election, but it wasn’t a landslide,” Abrams said. “It was an evenly divided nation. He got more people, but this was not the seismic shift where 57, 58 percent of America said no.”
Trump, who secured both the popular vote and the electoral college, had proclaimed his second presidential win as a defining moment for the nation. He pledged to lead what he described as a “golden age of America,” driven by the “greatest political movement of all time.”
The victory was marked by Republican dominance across battleground states, majorities in the House and Senate, and gains in voter support even in deep blue states.
The morning after the election, Vice President Kamala Harris called Trump to offer her congratulations before delivering her concession speech at Howard University. Many analysts have interpreted Trump’s victory as a clear mandate from voters frustrated by economic hardships, a worsening border crisis, and systemic issues in immigration.
Abrams, however, challenged that view, noting, “It was less than 50 percent of the electorate who said this is what we want.” According to the Associated Press, Trump won 49.9% of the national vote.
Abrams also took the opportunity to reflect on the late President Jimmy Carter’s legacy, emphasizing the role of “decency” in politics and urging Democrats to embrace and expand it.
“I think decency is a choice. It’s a difficult choice, but one that, when viewed authentically, has this effect of boosting confidence and boosting morale,” she explained. “It cannot be by itself the only offering, and I think what we saw, unfortunately, with President Carter, was that when decency confronts ignominy—ignominy has a leg up because he’s willing to do things decency won’t. That doesn’t mean you abandon decency.”
She further argued that Democrats need to make decency inclusive to appeal to disenfranchised voters.
“Our responsibility is for decency to show those who stayed home, those who stayed silent, that there is a place for decency and a place for them,” she said. “That’s the work that has to be done next.”
Abrams has remained a polarizing figure in American politics. After her narrow defeat in Georgia’s 2018 gubernatorial race against Republican Brian Kemp, Abrams refused to concede, citing allegations of voter suppression under Kemp’s tenure as secretary of state.
While she publicly acknowledged the results, she declared, “we won,” in a 2019 interview, further cementing her status as an outspoken advocate for so-called election reform.
Abrams ran for governor again in 2022 but lost to Kemp by a significant margin. Despite her losses, she has been celebrated by many on the Left for her efforts to expand voting access and inspire voter turnout. Those on the Right view her as a sore loser and rightfully so.
As the country moves forward, Abrams continues to act like a sore loser by not admitting that the 2024 election was a clear mandate by the American people to fix what the Democrats and the Biden administration broke over the past four years.
