The end of the road for Trump is here. There’s nothing left he can do.

And the U.S. Supreme Court’s insane ruling on Trump is being eviscerated by everyone.

Donald Trump’s lawyers were dealt a blow when the state of New York denied the request to delay and/or cancel the sentencing of Donald Trump in the hush money case involving adult film star Stormy Daniels. They had one last move up their sleeve, and that was to take it to the federal level and bypass the New York judicial system entirely. The federal court level would have the authority to overrule the state of New York, if they granted a request from the Trump legal team to review the case.

The lawyers for Trump had no time to just go to the lower federal courts, either. They had to go straight to the U.S. Supreme Court, which is what they did earlier this week. The Trump team filed an emergency case with the U.S. Supreme Court to at least temporarily delay the sentencing of the New York “hush money” case. This was the last shot they had to get the sentencing out of the picture ahead of inauguration day this month.

Unfortunately for Trump, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that they wouldn’t be taking up the emergency case. This shocked many in the political realm, with some legal experts calling the U.S. Supreme Court out-of-line for failing to see how the hush money case was politically-motivated all along. If it was politically-motivated, the U.S. Supreme Court should have no problem stepping in to put an end to the case once and for all.

One of the nation’s top legal experts and professor of law at George Washington University, Jonathan Turley, is speaking out about the U.S. Supreme Court ruling on Trump. He’s saying that the Supreme Court has lost legitimacy with this ruling. In his opinion, the ruling is “troubling” and he says that the reason he thinks the sentencing should be delayed an/or cancelled is because the case does not have legal legitimacy to begin with.

Supreme Court Allows Trump Sentencing to Proceed, Legal Expert Weighs In

The U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to allow the sentencing of President-elect Donald Trump in the Manhattan hush money case has sparked significant discussion in legal and political circles. In a narrow 5-4 ruling, the Supreme Court rejected Trump’s request to halt the proceedings, paving the way for Judge Juan Merchan to sentence Trump this past Friday, just days before his inauguration.

George Washington University law professor Jonathan Turley, speaking on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, offered his analysis of the situation. Turley argued that Judge Merchan had strategically managed the case timeline, leaving Trump with limited options to challenge the process.

“This is what some of us predicted when the appeals just began. Merchan really played this perfectly, and I say that not as a compliment. He knew that he was giving President-elect Trump very little runway by which to take an appeal off,” Turley explained. He added that appellate courts generally prefer finalized sentences to review cases comprehensively, a factor Merchan likely considered in his approach.

Turley suggested that the sentencing would solidify a dual perception of Trump: “He’s going to create the ultimate mandate for President Trump. He will have established with finality the effect of lawfare on our political system. So President Trump will go in, as many on the left want him to go in, as a convicted felon. But for many people in this country, he will also go in as someone who was the victim of lawfare,” Turley stated.

The Supreme Court’s decision was notably close, with a 5-4 split. The majority included the three liberal justices, Chief Justice John Roberts, and Justice Amy Coney Barrett. Turley commented on this division, saying, “The division on that court really does reflect how troubling the case is overall. That what this trial-level judge has done in Manhattan is to hold a presidential candidate first, now a president-elect, to his courtroom on a short leash”.

Trump’s legal team had sought to delay the sentencing, arguing in an emergency appeal that his forthcoming legal challenge would invalidate the district attorney’s case. Trump has consistently maintained that the case is baseless and tainted by testimony from a discredited former lawyer.
