The dust from the elections have settled. And now the Democrat cheating is coming to light.
That’s why Congress laid the hammer down on Democrats caught in this wild election fraud scheme.
Republicans Make Clear Demands For Harsh Consequences For Top Democrat Caught In Election Finance Crimes
Republican Representative Buddy Carter of Georgia is calling for stricter consequences for a nonprofit organization founded by Stacey Abrams, which recently faced a significant fine for its involvement in illegal campaign activities during her unsuccessful 2018 gubernatorial bid.
In a letter sent to Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Commissioner Daniel Werfel on Wednesday, Carter urged the agency to revoke the nonprofit’s tax-exempt status and initiate further investigations into potential violations of federal law. The letter, which was obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation, expresses Carter’s concerns over the nonprofit’s illegal actions.
On Wednesday, the Georgia State Ethics Commission issued a historic $300,000 fine against the nonprofit, the New Georgia Project, and its affiliated action fund. This fine represents the largest penalty ever imposed on an entity for violating Georgia’s state campaign finance laws. The nonprofit acknowledged committing 16 violations related to its support of Abrams’ campaign, admitting it failed to register as an independent political action committee and neglected to file required campaign finance reports.
At the time, Democratic Senator Raphael Warnock was overseeing the New Georgia Project, though he ceased his involvement after entering the Senate race in 2020.
Carter’s letter to the IRS emphasized the severity of the situation, stating, “The abuse of the organization’s [New Georgia Project] tax-exempt status and violation of federal campaign finance laws are serious violations of the public’s trust that undermine our country’s tax code and election system and must be fully examined by the Internal Revenue Service.” He added, “Considering the facts already reported, I believe the tax-exempt status of the New Georgia Project and its related Action Fund should be revoked and that it should be subject to further penalties.”
The New Georgia Project is registered as a 501(c)(3) organization, which means it is prohibited from engaging in any political campaign activities on behalf of, or in opposition to, candidates for public office. Despite certifying to the IRS that it did not participate in political campaigning during the 2018 election cycle, the nonprofit admitted to spending $3.2 million to promote Abrams’ candidacy and other Democratic candidates on the ballot, without proper disclosure.

In addition to the 2018 violations, the New Georgia Project also acknowledged engaging in illegal partisan activities in 2019, specifically related to supporting a referendum on extending public transportation, as reported by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Carter voiced his disappointment with the state commission’s actions, asserting that the $300,000 fine did not go far enough in holding the organization accountable. “It is disappointing that failed-candidate Stacey Abrams, who repeatedly spouted lies about her election being stolen, has yet again made a mockery of our free and fair system of elections,” he stated. “Georgians deserve better.”
Carter’s push for further IRS investigation and potential revocation of the New Georgia Project’s tax-exempt status reflects ongoing concerns regarding the intersection of nonprofit activities and political campaigns, raising important questions about the integrity of tax laws and campaign finance regulations.
There have been growing concerns amongst the general American public that “dark money” from “advocacy” organizations are influencing the outcomes of elections more than they should be. Some more populist Republicans in the U.S. Senate, for example, have signaled the will to work with Democrats across the aisle to reform election finance and make it harder to get away with funny business.
