Democrats have become some of the biggest hypocrites imaginable. It’s disturbing to see.
And this Democrat congresswoman was caught making a racist statement she can’t hide from.
At the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival on March 8, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a rising figure in the Democratic Party from Texas, sparked a firestorm with her insane claim: Americans rely on illegal immigrants to handle the gritty, unglamorous jobs that college-educated citizens simply won’t touch.
Speaking to a captivated audience, Crockett’s words—caught on video and blasted across social media—lit up debates, drawing both applause and outrage.
In the now-viral clip, which racked up over a million views in just four hours after hitting X on Friday, Crockett didn’t mince words. She challenged the crowd with a series of pointed questions. “How many of you are sending your kids to college?” she asked.
“How many of you are sending your kids to college to go and work on the farms?” Silence followed. “Okay, so, guess who is working the farms so that you can afford your food? So that you can have food,” she pressed.
The congresswoman didn’t stop there. She pivoted to hospitality and construction, asking, “How many of you are looking to send your kids into hospitality after this college education so that they can go and make the beds at the hotels?” and “How many of you are planning to send your kids to college so that they can then go and build these houses?”
“So the reality is, as long as we live in a capitalistic society, there’s always going to be someone, or a group of people, that will do work that some of the rest of y’all don’t want to do,” Crockett declared.
She tried to fame illegal immigrants as the unsung heroes of this system, adding, “These are the people who are really making us great in this country. They pay into taxes. And guess what? They’re not able to pull down on Social Security. So to have people going out disparaging them and targeting them, that is not what makes us great.”
But her remarks carry a sharp edge—one that critics say veers into racist territory. By pigeonholing illegal immigrants as the ones destined to toil in fields, scrub hotel rooms, and haul construction materials, Crockett paints a picture of a permanent underclass defined by race and origin.
Her words imply that these jobs—dirty, low-paying, and physically taxing—are inherently beneath Americans, particularly the college-educated, while casting immigrants, many of whom are Latino, as fit only for such labor.
It’s a stereotype that echoes old, ugly tropes about who “belongs” in society’s grimiest corners, raising questions about whether her defense of immigrants doubles as a backhanded slight.
Crockett shared the stage with Errin Haines, editor-at-large of The 19th News, who first posted the clip online earlier this week.
Once it hit X, the internet erupted. The congresswoman’s stance isn’t new among Democrats—Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz warned in 2023 that vegetables would rot without illegal immigrants, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi insisted in 2022 that farmers need them “to pick the crops” in the Sunshine State.

But Crockett’s blunt delivery, paired with her recent claim that illegal entry “is not a crime” (despite it being a federal misdemeanor under 8 USC 1325, punishable by fines and jail time), has turned her into a lightning rod.
Supporters see her as a truth-teller, shining a light on an economy that quietly depends on immigrant labor.
Detractors, though, argue she’s not only soft on lawbreaking but also peddling a narrative that reduces immigrants to little more than society’s workhorses—a view that’s as dehumanizing as it is divisive.
As the dust settles, one thing’s certain: Crockett’s words have ignited a fierce conversation about work, worth, and who really keeps America running.
