Politicians and bureaucrats love attention. It doesn’t matter if it’s good or bad.

And now James Comey humiliated himself with an outrageous statement no one believes.

Comey Labels GOP “White Supremacist Adjacent”

Former FBI Director James Comey sparked controversy on MSNBC over the weekend, branding the Republican Party as “white supremacist adjacent” during an interview with former Biden White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki.

When Psaki asked about the Trump administration’s challenges to the legal system, saying, “One of the things that is happening now is that the Trump administration, of course, is testing the system in ways it hasn’t been tested before,” Comey responded, “Probably there could be changes at the margins, but in the main we have the tools; there are cultural impediments to doing this work.”

He elaborated, “Let’s say you work in the FBI; you know that one of the two political parties is — let me put it nicely— white supremacist adjacent, at a minimum. And so why would you wanna throw your career on that side of the line and be summoned to Capitol Hill to be asked why you’re pursuing these innocent groups.”

Comey’s inflammatory label casts a shadow over his credibility, given his own tenure at the FBI was marred by accusations of politicizing investigations, which critics argue undermines his critique of the GOP.

Reviving Past Attacks on Trump

Comey doubled down on his long-standing criticism of President Trump, echoing sentiments from an April 2019 New York Times op-ed where he accused Trump of exploiting racism for political gain.

He wrote then, “America has long had a radioactive racist soup in the center of our national life. Donald Trump thinks he is stirring it for political benefit.”

“He’s actually doing something more dangerous,” directly addressing Trump with, “You must stop trying to unleash and exploit the radioactive energy of racism.”

By resurfacing these charges, Comey attempts to paint Trump and the GOP as divisive forces, yet his selective outrage ignores similar criticisms leveled against Democratic tactics, raising questions about his impartiality as a former law enforcement official.

Hypocrisy in GOP Critique

Comey also took aim at the Republican Party’s principles, accusing them of disregarding precedent while conveniently overlooking the Biden administration’s own contentious actions.

He remarked, “I know Republicans these days aren’t big in thinking about principle or precedent; they’re gonna be deeply sorry that disappears because someday there’ll be a Democratic president and there will be investigations of Republican office holders. If I’m them (sic), I sure would want these career people in place making sure that it’s done in the right way.”

His warning about future Democratic-led investigations rings hollow, given his silence on the politicized probes during Biden’s term, such as those targeting political opponents.

As Comey critiques the GOP’s moral compass, his selective focus and past controversies—like his handling of the Clinton email investigation—cast him as a questionable voice on issues of fairness, making his attacks seem more like partisan posturing than principled critique.
