The Trump administration has been all business since taking office. But this is only the beginning.
Because Trump’s border czar just gave a four word announcement on TV that left jaws on the floor.
Trump Administration Continues Unprecedented Crackdown on Illegal Immigration
The Trump administration is taking an aggressive stance on illegal immigration, setting a new standard for enforcement that surpasses any modern U.S. presidency. With a clear focus on public safety and national security, the administration is ramping up arrests and deportations, targeting criminal aliens and sanctuary cities with a resolve that’s shaking up the status quo. Border Czar Tom Homan, a key figure in this push, announced on Friday that the number of arrests and deportations of illegal migrants will grow “substantially” in the coming weeks, marking a dramatic escalation in immigration enforcement.
Under the direction of White House deputy chief of staff for policy Stephen Miller and Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has been ordered to hit a minimum of 3,000 daily arrests. This is a significant leap from the quotas established at the start of President Donald Trump’s term, reflecting a commitment to tackle the issue head-on. Homan, speaking on Vince with Daily Caller editorial director Vince Coglianese, emphasized the urgency of the situation.
“We need to do a h*ll of a lot more. So I’ve been pushing for more arrests in the interior, I’ve said we’ve gotta do more, we’ve gotta do better,” Homan said. He highlighted the presence of over 600,000 illegal aliens with criminal convictions in the U.S., arguing that the current arrest rate of about 1,500 per day is insufficient. “So right now, the numbers are about 1,500, and we need to double that and I agree with Stephen Miller 100%. Stephen Miller, the guy’s brilliant. He’s the architect and it’s an honor to work with him and I agree with Secretary Kristi Noem. You’ve gotta have more. And it’s not gonna be hard to do.”
To achieve these ambitious targets, the administration is deploying a surge of ICE agents to sanctuary cities, areas long criticized for shielding illegal immigrants from federal authorities. Homan made it clear that these cities will face intense scrutiny. “So sanctuary cities are gonna be flooded with officers, doing what they need to do to find these public safety threats, so you’re gonna see those numbers increased substantially in the next few weeks,” he stated.
The administration’s efforts are already showing results. During an April 28 press briefing, Homan expressed satisfaction with the deportation numbers, which totaled 139,000 since January 20. This figure further proves the administration’s commitment to swift and decisive action, a stark contrast to the slower pace of previous administrations. The focus on deportations isn’t just about numbers—it’s about removing individuals who have committed serious crimes, ensuring safer streets for American citizens.
A recent Supreme Court ruling has further bolstered the administration’s efforts, granting approval to deport over 532,000 migrants who gained legal status under former President Joe Biden’s policies. The decision, which saw dissents from Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson, empowers the Trump administration to reverse what it views as lenient immigration measures from the prior administration. This legal victory provides a clear path to prioritize deportations, aligning with the administration’s goal of restoring order to the immigration system.
However, resistance from some Democratic-led cities persists. During a March 5 congressional hearing, Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson dodged questions about cooperating with ICE to turn over illegal immigrants with criminal records. Denver Mayor Mike Johnston has also threatened non-compliance with the administration’s immigration laws, prompting a sharp response from Homan. On Fox News’ Sean Hannity show, Homan warned that Johnson could “go to jail” for obstructing ICE’s efforts to deport illegal immigrants. While Johnson later softened his stance, he encouraged Denver residents to protest the administration’s policies, highlighting the ongoing tension between federal and local authorities.
Homan has been vocal about the dangers posed by sanctuary city policies, pointing to his firsthand experience overseeing arrests of individuals responsible for heinous crimes. His condemnation of these mayors reflects the administration’s frustration with local leaders who prioritize political posturing over public safety. By targeting these jurisdictions, the Trump administration is sending a clear message: no city is above the law when it comes to protecting Americans from criminal threats.
To support these enforcement efforts, the administration is pushing for substantial funding through a Republican-led tax and spending package, dubbed the “big, beautiful bill” by President Trump. The proposal allocates $46.5 billion to resume construction of the border wall, $4.1 billion to hire additional Border Patrol agents, and a $1,000 fee for asylum seekers filing applications. These measures aim to strengthen border security and deter illegal crossings, addressing both immediate enforcement needs and long-term prevention. However, the legislation faces delays in the Senate, where debates over funding continue to hold up progress.
The administration’s approach stands out for its intensity and scale, unmatched by any recent presidency. While past administrations have addressed illegal immigration, none have matched the Trump administration’s combination of high arrest quotas, targeted operations in sanctuary cities, and significant legislative proposals.
As ICE agents prepare to “flood the zone” in sanctuary cities, the coming weeks will likely see a surge in enforcement actions, setting the stage for a transformative period in U.S. immigration policy. The administration’s focus on criminal aliens, backed by judicial support and proposed funding, positions it as a formidable force in reshaping how the nation handles illegal immigration.
