Republicans don’t have all that much time to accomplish their agenda. They need to move quick.
Now the House GOP sent illegal aliens a scathing rebuke with one bold piece of legislation.
House Passes Bill to Block Illegal Immigrants from SBA Loans
In a decisive victory for American taxpayers, the House voted 217-190 on Friday to pass the American Entrepreneurs First Act of 2025, a bill that bars noncitizens from accessing Small Business Administration (SBA) loans.
This legislation, championed by President Donald Trump’s administration, codifies strict citizenship verification to prevent illegal immigrants from exploiting taxpayer funds.
The move underscores a robust anti-illegal immigration stance, ensuring that SBA resources are reserved for lawful American entrepreneurs, aligning with Trump’s broader agenda to curb the financial burdens of unchecked borders.
Protecting Taxpayer Dollars from Fraud
The bill, introduced by Representative Beth Van Duyne (R., Texas), requires SBA loan applicants to prove citizenship, reinforcing safeguards against fraud and abuse.
“By passing my American Entrepreneurs First Act, House Republicans have, once again, come together to support common sense reforms protecting America’s hard-earned tax dollars from being lost to waste, fraud, abuse, and theft by hostile foreign actors,” Van Duyne stated.
SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, who implemented a citizenship verification rule in March, praised the vote, saying, “I’m grateful to the House lawmakers who voted today in support of the SBA’s efforts to implement citizenship and birth date verification. Illegal aliens and fraudsters have no right to taxpayer-backed loans at the SBA.”
“With these common-sense guardrails, the American Entrepreneurs First Act will help put our deserving job creators first.”
Loeffler’s reforms previously halted a $783,000 loan in June 2024 to a business partly owned by an illegal immigrant, highlighting the necessity of such measures.
GOP Unity and Democratic Support
The legislation garnered bipartisan support, with eight Democrats from competitive districts—Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (Wash.), Marcy Kaptur (Ohio), Tom Suozzi (N.Y.), Laura Gillen (N.Y.), Don Davis (N.C.), and others—joining Republicans, reflecting the salience of illegal immigration in swing seats.
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R., La.) emphasized the GOP’s commitment, stating, “From ending taxpayer-subsidized open borders to restoring oversight capabilities at SBA, House Republicans continue to bring common sense back to government and refocus agencies on their core missions. We will keep passing the President’s executive orders and working in lockstep with this Administration to fulfill our commitment to the American people.”
Alongside this bill, the House passed two other SBA-related measures to enhance oversight and relocate offices from sanctuary cities, further aligning with Trump’s immigration crackdown.
While the bill’s fate in the GOP-controlled Senate remains uncertain, its passage signals a strong push to prioritize American citizens and combat the economic drain of illegal immigration.
