The radical Left rarely agrees to be held accountable for their actions. That’s why they run when things don’t go their way.
And this Democrat congressman was caught red-handed hiding in fear from the press in this viral video.
Congressman Suozzi’s Fake Call Fumble Amid LA Riots
Rep. Tom Suozzi, a Democrat from Long Island, was caught on camera avoiding tough questions about the violent anti-ICE riots in Los Angeles by pretending to engage in a phone call. The episode, which unfolded outside the US Capitol last Thursday, has led to criticism and raised eyebrows about the congressman’s willingness to participate in tough questioning.
The footage, obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation, captures Suozzi briefly acknowledging a man waiting to question him before suddenly raising his phone to his ear. “Sorry, hold on, I got a call coming through,” Suozzi said, despite his iMessage app being visibly open on his phone’s home screen. As he walked away, the individual pressed him with pointed questions about the unrest gripping Los Angeles.
“Congressman, what do Democrats mean when they say the riots in LA are peaceful?” the man asked, followed by, do you “consider throwing rocks at a moving car to be a peaceful act?” Suozzi, maintaining the charade, turned to the camera and said, “Sorry, I’m on the phone,” before hurrying off. The questioner, undeterred, quipped, “Enjoy the fake phone call,” as the lawmaker retreated.

The incident has drawn heavy criticism from the National Republican Congressional Committee. Spokesperson Maureen O’Toole didn’t mince words, calling Suozzi’s actions cowardly. “Two-faced Tom Suozzi calls himself a ‘commonsense Democrat,’ but when asked about violent riots, he cowardly fakes a phone call instead of standing up for law and order,” O’Toole said, according to the Independent Journal Review.
“It’s not just weak, it’s disgraceful. Suozzi’s refusal to condemn chaos shows he’s fully captured by the radical left. He won’t be able to fake his way out of this one — his free fall back home is just getting started.”

Suozzi’s campaign didn’t deny the staged phone call. Kim Devlin, a senior campaign advisor, admitted to the tactic in a statement to the New York Post, framing it as a response to partisan tactics.
“This kid was hired by national Republicans to play gotcha games. Congressman Suozzi pretending to take a call was more productive than indulging in silly Washington partisan games,” Devlin said.
The backdrop to this controversy is the escalating unrest in Los Angeles, where thousands of protestors have taken to the streets for days, opposing the Trump administration’s immigration policies.
The demonstrations have turned chaotic, with rioters throwing objects at police, looting high-end stores, and setting cars on fire. In response, President Trump deployed hundreds of active-duty Marines and thousands of National Guard troops to restore order in the city, which has been rocked by several days of destruction.
Many elected Democrats have either downplayed the violence, misrepresented its nature, or avoided admonishing the rioters while criticizing the president’s decision to deploy troops. One exception is US Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, who broke ranks with his party to denounce the chaos.
“I unapologetically stand for free speech, peaceful demonstrations, and immigration—but this is not that,” Fetterman posted on X. “This is anarchy and true chaos. My party loses the moral high ground when we refuse to condemn setting cars on fire, destroying buildings, and assaulting law enforcement.”

Perhaps it’s time for Rep. Suozzi to take a page out of Fetterman’s book when it comes to criticizing violent protests and riots.
