The Trump administration is working to accomplish its agenda. But they’ve recently run into a major roadblock.
As a civil war has broken out among Donald Trump supporters over this single issue.
MAGA Firestorm Erupts Over Epstein Files, Targeting Attorney General Pam Bondi
A wave of prominent MAGA figures, including Megyn Kelly, are demanding the resignation of Attorney General Pam Bondi over her handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files. Despite President Trump’s staunch support, the escalating controversy has sparked a rare divide within his loyal base.
During an appearance at a Turning Point USA summit in Tampa Bay on Friday, Kelly, a former Fox News star, unleashed a blistering attack on Bondi. Her criticism continued on X, where she took sharp aim at the AG’s actions
“I’m sure it’s a relief for Pam Bondi to hear the president is still in her corner,” Kelly posted with a bite. “Unfortunately, huge swaths of the party are not. She repeatedly misled on Epstein. Then didn’t have the courage to explain herself. Suddenly, she’s camera shy & no Qs allowed. Good luck!”
In a pointed X thread, Kelly outlined two possibilities: “There are really only two options,” she wrote. “1. There’s no huge undisclosed there there on Epstein, Bondi misled on it (until she didn’t) & Trump is quick to forgive a loyal soldier for being desperate to get on TV; or 2. There is a scandal that’s being covered up & it’s at his direction.”
The uproar centers on the Justice Department’s February release of “phase one” of the Epstein files under Bondi’s leadership. Shared with several MAGA influencers, the documents were criticized as largely recycled, offering little new insight.
Earlier this year, Bondi told Fox News that a list of Epstein’s clients was “sitting on my desk right now to review,” only for the White House to later clarify she meant the “entirety of all of the paperwork and relation to Jeffrey Epstein.”
A recent DOJ and FBI memo further fueled the controversy, stating no evidence exists of a client list—a point media outlets had reported years earlier. The release of surveillance footage from near Epstein’s New York prison cell at the time of his death, with a missing minute, deepened suspicions of a cover-up.
Tensions have spilled into the MAGA inner circle. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino, a former Fox News colleague and friend of Kelly, reportedly clashed with Bondi and threatened to resign if she remains AG, according to the New York Post.
Speaking alongside Turning Point USA’s Charlie Kirk, Kelly urged Trump to side with Bongino. “Dan understands MAGA. Dan is part of the MAGA movement,” she said, warning that the Epstein issue is “starting to create a real hornet’s nest” for Trump.
“This is the first big scandal, I’d say, of the Trump administration that’s on team, rational, it’s not a fake media scandal like the left tries to create for President Trump, every other day,” she added. “It’s one of the right’s making, and it’s not going well.”
Kelly laid the blame squarely at Bondi’s feet. “She has never missed an opportunity to go on television and dangle sweet nothings that might be coming your way,” she said, accusing Bondi of hyping nonexistent breakthroughs. Kelly also slammed Bondi’s refusal to hold a press conference, noting that “her words on the record on Fox News are diametrically opposed to what she put in this memo.”
Other MAGA heavyweights have joined the revolt. Steve Bannon, former White House strategist and War Room host, called for a major DOJ and FBI overhaul. “Yes, you could have Dan Bongino or Pam Bondi resign and make a scene, but that just creates turmoil,” he said at the summit.
“What we need right now is not to upend DOJ or FBI. We need to get to the bottom of Epstein. Because Epstein is the key that picks the lock.”
Tucker Carlson, on his podcast, accused the DOJ under Bondi of “covering up crimes, very serious crimes by their own description.” Charlie Kirk claimed Bondi misled influencers like Jack Posobiec and Libs of TikTok by giving them “these [Epstein] binders” that amounted to nothing, saying she “humiliated them.”
As criticism mounts, Bondi has kept a low profile. Trump, however, leapt to her defense on Truth Social Saturday, railing against her critics. “They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening. We have a PERFECT Administration,” he wrote.
He pointed fingers at Obama and Biden-era officials, adding, “For years, it’s Epstein, over and over again. Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration.”
