It’s not easy to take Fox News by surprise. But when it happens, it’s fireworks.

And a Fox News interview on Laura Ingraham’s show went sideways fast when a guest made things personal.

Chicago Residents Fed Up as Democrat Leaders Brag About Safety While Crime Ravages Neighborhoods

In an on-air challenge, Chicago Flips Red co-founder Danielle Carter-Walters called out Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson for their rosy depictions of the Windy City amid ongoing violence. Appearing on Fox News’ The Ingraham Angle, Carter-Walters dismissed the Democrats’ claims after Pritzker posted a video showcasing upscale areas to counter President Donald Trump’s criticisms.

“We are not thinking about Pritzker or Brandon Johnson,” Carter-Walters said. “We just had four mass shootings in a span of one month. Fourteen people got shot and four dead. We just had senior citizens laying shot, bleeding in the streets. And let’s not forget the gentleman who we saw, who was on Facebook Live, get robbed and shot while he was sitting in his car. So we don’t care about anything these people are saying.”

Carter-Walters didn’t stop there, daring the officials to experience the reality faced by everyday residents. “Tell Brandon Johnson and Pritzker, if Chicago is so safe, with Brandon Johnson especially, let’s leave his 150 police detail. Fire them and walk around with no police detail. And Pritzker, no security,” she added. “Come in my community, the South Side of Chicago. Come over there, and let’s see you say how safe it is. You can’t even sit in your car alone. If you sit in your car, you know there is a chance you’re going to get carjacked, robbed or shot. So tell him to come around in my neck of the woods and talk that.”

Pritzker and Johnson fired back in a press conference, pleading with Trump not to send federal troops while touting supposed drops in crime stats. According to local reports, homicides are down 25% through mid-August compared to last year, with 474 k*llings over the past 12 months versus a prior average of 722.

Yet these figures ring hollow for many on the ground, where mass shootings and brazen robberies dominate headlines. Trump’s consideration of deploying the National Guard to Chicago follows his recent move to secure Washington, D.C., after high-profile attacks, including the m*rder of a Republican intern and assault on a former government staffer.

While Democrats decry Trump’s actions as overreach, a fresh Harvard CAPS/Harris poll shows 54% of voters view his D.C. crackdown as justified and essential. This sentiment echoes growing frustration in Democrat strongholds, where soft-on-crime policies have left communities vulnerable.

Across major blue cities, residents are increasingly vocal about their impatience with liberal leadership’s failure to tackle surging violence and urban decay. In New York City, where Democrat Eric Adams presides, voters are demanding tougher enforcement amid rising assaults and thefts, with polls indicating crime as a top concern driving shifts toward conservative candidates.

San Francisco’s story is even more stark, as former Democrat voters cite rampant homelessness and open drug markets as reasons for abandoning the party. One Bay Area resident shared on X how break-ins and ignored 911 calls turned them against progressive governance, highlighting decades of one-party rule that turned tech hubs into zones of despair.

Los Angeles mirrors this chaos, with tent cities and graffiti-plagued streets fueling outrage. Locals blame Democrat policies like reduced penalties for theft and drugs for the explosion in homelessness, despite billions spent, prompting calls for federal intervention similar to Trump’s D.C. model.

In Portland and Seattle, progressive experiments with defunding police have backfired spectacularly, leading to record exodus and business closures. Voters there, once reliably blue, passed measures to restore funding and crack down on public disorder, signaling a rejection of lenient approaches that prioritized equity over safety.

Nationwide, this impatience stems from a pattern: Democrat-run urban centers lead in homelessness, drug abuse, and crime spikes, thanks to sanctuary protections and bail reforms that embolden offenders. As one X user noted, these policies have turned thriving areas into havens for chaos, driving families and entrepreneurs away.

Recent surveys note this shift, with working-class residents in blue cities rating crime as a pivotal issue, often blaming unchecked immigration and weak enforcement. In swing districts, Republicans are capitalizing on this, portraying Democrats as out of touch with the daily fears of ordinary Americans.

Trump’s threats to extend federal oversight to places like Chicago and Baltimore have mayors on edge, but public support is building. Democratic leaders decry it as political theater, yet residents weary of boarded-up stores and unsafe streets see it as long-overdue help.

As midterm pressures mount, even some Democrats admit their messaging on crime falters, with voters prioritizing law and order over progressive ideals. The tide is turning, with calls for accountability echoing from South Side Chicago to skid row in L.A.
