Radical Leftism has no place in America. Donald Trump wants to root it out at every chance possible.
And this Leftist college is trembling in fear after what Trump ordered his administration to do to them.
President Donald Trump has taken a firm stance against Harvard University, instructing Secretary of Education Linda McMahon to secure at least $500 million from the institution as a condition for restoring federal grants that amount to $2.4 billion. During a Cabinet meeting Trump was unequivocal: “We want nothing less than $500 million from Harvard. Don’t negotiate, Linda. They’ve been very bad.”
The move comes after Trump’s decision earlier this year to halt federal funding to the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based university, citing its promotion of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs and alleged failure to protect Jewish faculty and students from discrimination.
Harvard, with its massive $53 billion endowment, now faces intense pressure to comply with the administration’s demands.
Columbia’s Deal Sets the Stage
This isn’t the first Ivy League institution to feel the heat. Columbia University, which holds a $14.8 billion endowment, recently regained its federal funding after paying a $200 million fine to settle civil rights violations.
That deal required Columbia to appoint an independent monitor, submit semi-annual reports ensuring compliance with Titles VI, VII, and IX anti-discrimination laws, and pay over $20 million to Jewish employees who faced discrimination.
In July, Trump noted that Harvard “wants to settle” after observing Columbia’s resolution, hinting at the possibility of a similar agreement.
Federal Push for Policy Reform
The Education Department is pushing Harvard to adopt stricter policies, including tougher measures against antisemitism and sharing foreign student data for vetting purposes by the feds.
Speaking last month on NewsNation’s Morning in America, McMahon expressed hope for cooperation, stating, “We’re hoping that Harvard will come to the table.” She added that other universities have already begun implementing similar changes to avoid federal scrutiny.
Harvard, however, is fighting back. The university has opposed the grant freeze in federal court, arguing that the withdrawal of funds violates its First Amendment rights.
Boston U.S. District Judge Allison Burroughs has questioned the Trump administration’s “ad hoc” decision to cut research dollars.
New Allegations Fuel the Fire
Meanwhile, the university faces fresh allegations from the conservative group America First Legal (AFL).
In a recent complaint filed with the Department of Justice’s Office of Civil Rights, AFL accused Harvard of ongoing racial and s*xual discrimination, highlighting at least $49 million in taxpayer-funded DEI initiatives, which involve grants to “train and diversify” employees considered “underrepresented” and studies about “climate factors, racial/ethnic disparities, and menstrual cycle health.”
The pressure on Harvard intensified further when Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick threatened to seize control of more than hundreds of millions of dollars’ of taxpayer-funded patents and inventions developed by Harvard students and faculty members. This aggressive tactic signals the administration’s determination to hold the university accountable.
As tensions rise, Harvard stands at a critical juncture, navigating legal battles, federal demands, and public scrutiny. If they make one wrong move, the Trump administration is ready to pounce.
