The Trump admin has done it again. They’re on their way to a major accomplishment.

And new gas prices have Americans speechless and rushing to thank Donald Trump.

Americans are finally catching a break as they pull up to gas stations nationwide, with the average price dipping under $3 per gallon for the first time in years. This drop marks a significant win for everyday folks who’ve been hammered by high energy costs in the past.

Experts are pointing to smart moves in global oil production as a big reason for this relief. Patrick De Haan, head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, shared his take on the situation Monday.

“Gas prices have finally fallen below $3 per gallon nationally — the earliest date we’ve seen a $2.99 national average since 2020, when COVID was the primary driver of low prices,” he said.

De Haan went on to credit international players for stepping up. “OPEC+ deserves much of the credit for this trend, having steadily raised oil production for much of 2025. Currently, 35 states have average gas prices below $2.99/gal, and GasBuddy even recorded the first $1.99 cash price at a station in Evans, Colorado, with stations in Oklahoma and Texas not far behind,” De Haan continued.

“Barring any major disruptions, gas prices are likely to remain slightly below year-ago levels and could stay under $3 for much of the next few months.”

The Trump White House jumped on this positive development, posting on its site about how drivers are enjoying some of the cheapest fuel in more than four years. It’s a clear sign that policies focused on boosting energy output are paying off.

But the administration didn’t stop there—they made sure to call out the nightmare at the pumps during the Biden years. Families remember all too well the skyrocketing costs that drained their wallets.

“President Trump understands that energy dominance is a key driver for growing our economy and lowering costs — making good on a promise he repeatedly made on the campaign trail after years of Biden-induced economic disaster. In fact, under Biden, average gas prices remained above $3 per gallon for nearly the entirety of his presidency,” the White House’s website said.

Flash back to 2022, when things hit rock bottom for American drivers. Prices soared to a national average of $4.60, and experts warned it was only getting uglier, per Breitbart News’s reports.

Industry voices at the time painted a grim picture, saying the “cruel summer” ahead could push averages well past $6 per gallon. That kind of hike crushed working-class budgets everywhere.

Polls captured the real hurt people were feeling. A Quinnipiac survey from late March that year found over a third of Americans skimping on groceries just to keep their tanks full.

At that point, the national average sat at $4.225, and the Biden team was quick to point fingers at Russia for the mess. But many saw through that excuse, knowing domestic policies played a huge role.

Fast forward to 2024, and data from AAA drove the point home even harder. Drivers were shelling out 45 percent more for their daily fills compared to before Biden stepped in, per Breitbart News.

That era of pain stands in stark contrast to today’s relief, where smart energy strategies are putting money back in pockets. Trump’s focus on unleashing American resources is delivering results.

Just last Friday, the White House doubled down on this success. “President Donald J. Trump’s commitment to unleashing American energy production is bringing relief at the gas pump, with gas prices nearing a four-year low across the country.”

With prices this low, families can breathe easier, maybe even plan that extra road trip or save for something special. It’s proof that putting America first in energy works wonders for everyone.
