Democrats love making allegations about the president. They’re trying to find different ways to take him down.
And the Left made an outrageous claim about President Trump that’s sent him spiraling.
In a move straight out of the swamp’s playbook, House Democrats are once again gunning for President Donald Trump, this time with wild claims that he’s scheming to line his pockets with taxpayer cash through the Department of Justice.
The latest frenzy kicked off with a public letter from House Judiciary Committee Democrats, blasting what they call a supposed plot by Trump to siphon off millions for his past legal battles.
Led by the ever-vocal Jamie Raskin of Maryland, they’re demanding that top DOJ brass step aside from any involvement, painting the whole thing as some grand theft from the public purse.
Democrats are howling about a “blatantly illegal and unconstitutional effort to steal” from hardworking Americans, all while they’ve shut down the government and left federal employees high and dry. It’s hypocrisy on steroids, folks—the same crowd that ballooned the national debt now clutching pearls over phantom payouts.
The spark for this circus? A New York Times piece from last week, whispering that Trump floated claims worth around $230 million back in 2023 and 2024—long before he stepped back into the White House. These weren’t backroom deals; they were standard administrative filings for damages racked up by endless investigations into nothingburgers like the Russia hoax.
Trump’s no stranger to the deep state’s dirty tricks, from the Mueller farce to Jack Smith’s partisan witch hunts. Now, Democrats twist these legitimate grievances into a scandal, ignoring how their own DOJ weaponized the law against a sitting president and beyond.
Raskin and his crew aren’t stopping at accusations—they’re laying traps for the future, sniffing around for dirt to fuel subpoenas if they ever claw back power. It’s all theater, designed to hobble Trump while real crises fester, like the border invasion or skyrocketing prices crushing families.
In their letter, the Democrats drop a not-so-veiled threat: “You could face civil liability, ethics investigations, professional discipline, and potential criminal liability for conspiracy to defraud the United States.”
This isn’t just Democrats piling on; a few squishy Republicans have joined the chorus, proving once again that the uniparty loves nothing more than kneecapping outsiders who drain the swamp. Trump’s response? Pure fire from the Oval Office, calling the whole notion absurd.
“it would be awfully strange” to pay himself, Trump remarked, cutting through the noise with that trademark straight talk. He’s not hiding from the fight—he’s owning the damage done by years of bogus probes that cost him dearly in time, reputation, and resources.
Trump laid it out plain: “In other words, did you ever have one of those cases where you have to decide how much you’re paying yourself in damages?”
“But I was damaged very greatly. And any money that I would get, I would give to charity.”
That’s the Trump way—turning personal hits into wins for the forgotten men and women of America. No grifting here, just a promise to redirect any windfall straight to causes that matter.
Democrats, predictably, scoff at the charity angle, firing back that Trump “does not get the right to take a bribe or kickback just by promising to give the proceeds to charity.”
They’re zeroing in on Deputy AG Todd Blanche and senior official Stanley Woodward, both battle-tested from Trump’s defense squad against the indictments.
Meanwhile, the real victims—the shutdown’s casualties—get zero airtime from these grandstanders. Federal workers in Raskin’s own backyard are scraping by without paychecks and air traffic controllers are stretched thin.
Committee Republicans aren’t biting their tongues. Spokesman Russell Dye nailed it: “Democrats should focus on opening the government and paying federal workers, many of whom live in Ranking Member Raskin’s district, rather than obsessing over President Trump who clearly did nothing wrong.”
Dye didn’t pull punches on the Democrats’ true colors: “But sadly, their priority will always be attacking President Trump instead of paying the troops, air traffic controllers, and families who are hurting because of the Democrat shutdown.”
