The GOP has tons of momentum right now. They are ready to pounce.
And Republicans are jumping for joy over the prospect of this disastrous failure for the Left.
As the 2026 midterm elections loom just one year away, House Republicans are charging forward with unshakeable confidence, claiming they’ve got the wind at their backs despite the usual tough odds for the party holding the White House.
A fresh memo from the National Republican Congressional Committee, shared with the New York Post, paints a picture of surging GOP energy against a backdrop of Democratic disarray.
Forget the doom and gloom of past cycles—Republicans insist the current setup looks far brighter than it did back in 2017, right before that disastrous blue wave hit. With Democrats tangled in their own internal fights and fumbling their core messages, the GOP sees the tide turning steadily in their favor.
“Democrats have their weakest brand in decades, with 67% of Democrats saying they’re frustrated with their party, up from about half in Pew polls from 2021 and 2019,” the NRCC memo lays out bluntly, highlighting just how deep the cracks run in the opposition.
American voters aren’t buying what the Democrats are selling anymore. They’re viewed as the champions of sky-high taxes, spineless leaders, lenient crime policies, porous borders, and endless woke nonsense. This is the party that’s cozy with the coastal elites, totally ignoring the hardworking folks who keep this country running.
History shows that since 1938, the White House party has dropped House seats in nearly every midterm except two. Under Trump, the GOP bled 40 seats in 2018’s blue wave debacle, and Democrats shed nine under Biden in 2022. But this cycle feels different, with Republicans holding stronger ground.
Polling tells the story loud and clear: Republicans are in a much tighter race now than they were a year before the 2018 wipeout. The generic congressional ballot gives Democrats a slim 3.6-point lead, per the RealClearPolitics average.
Flash back eight years, and Democrats enjoyed a whopping near-9-point advantage on that same ballot, as the NRCC points out. That’s a massive shift, showing how the ground has moved under the Democrats’ feet.
“The percentage of Americans who say Democrats are ‘out of touch’ has increased by double-digits over the last decade, with 70% indicating the party is disconnected from the issues that matter to voters,” the memo drives home, exposing the growing chasm between Democrats and everyday Americans.
On top of that, the NRCC is boasting about their fundraising edge and battle-tested incumbents in key districts. Money talks in politics, and right now, it’s speaking volumes for the Republicans.
Back in the first three quarters of 2017, Democrats’ campaign arm outpaced the NRCC by $8.7 million. Fast-forward to now, and the tables have turned—the NRCC leads by $723,000 over the same period in 2025.
“Compared to this point in 2017, the NRCC has raised roughly $20M more and holds about $7.5M more cash on hand,” the memo states, highlighting the GOP’s financial firepower.
“The DCCC is taking in less money and resources than it did in 2023, a clear sign of fading enthusiasm and a donor base that is depressed and disillusioned by its leadership.”
“Republican campaigns are building war chests, and Democrats are falling behind.” It’s that simple—the GOP is stacking cash while Democrats scramble.
Even the vulnerable Republicans, dubbed the “NRCC Patriots,” are out-fundraising their Democratic counterparts in the “DCCC Frontliners” group. This isn’t just about survival; it’s about dominating the battlefield.
The memo smartly skips over the ongoing redistricting battles shaking up maps nationwide, focusing instead on the GOP’s core strengths heading into the fight.
But Republicans aren’t popping champagne yet—they know victory demands grit. “If we continue to press our advantages, amplify our fundraising lead, highlight Patriot strength across battlegrounds, and drive the contrast between Republican deliverance and Democratic chaos, we will earn every vote next year,” the memo wraps up, rallying the troops for the road ahead.
