DeSantis is one of the best governors in the country. More times than not, he’s making the right decision for Floridians.
And Ron DeSantis issues an order that has Leftists ripping their hair out.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has taken a bold stand against radical Islamist threats by officially designating the Muslim Brotherhood and the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) as “foreign terrorist organizations.”
This executive order, signed on Monday, comes hot on the heels of a similar move by Texas Governor Greg Abbott, showing that red states are stepping up.
DeSantis didn’t waste time announcing his decision. He posted the memo on his X account, stamped with his approval, and declared it “EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY.” This isn’t just talk—it’s action to protect Floridians from groups that undermine Americans’ way of life.
In his post, DeSantis laid out clear instructions: “Florida agencies are hereby directed to undertake all lawful measures to prevent unlawful activities by these organizations, including denying privileges or resources to anyone providing material support.” It’s about time leaders like him crack down on those who aid and abet terror.
The governor pulled no punches in the order, pointing out that the Muslim Brotherhood—a shadowy transnational Sunni Islamist outfit started in Egypt—has branches tied to brutal attacks.
He warned that they’re pushing for “a world-wide Islamic caliphate” and have direct connections to Hamas, the notorious group behind so much bloodshed in the Middle East.
Turning to CAIR, DeSantis highlighted its shady past, noting it was “designated an unindicted co-conspirator” in “the largest terrorism-financing case in American history.”
Of course, CAIR keeps denying any financial ties to Hamas or other terror networks.
This isn’t isolated to Florida. Back on November 18, Governor Abbott in Texas beat DeSantis to the punch by issuing his own order labeling both groups as foreign terrorists. Abbott went even further, accusing them of trying to force Shariah law on Americans and aiming to “establish Islam’s ‘mastership of the world.’”
Abbott’s directive was crystal clear: He ordered the state attorney general to “sue to shut [the organizations] down” in the Lone Star State. No more playing nice with radicals who threaten U.S. sovereignty.
In his statement, Abbott thundered, “The actions taken by the Muslim Brotherhood and CAIR to support terrorism across the globe and subvert our laws through violence, intimidation, and harassment are unacceptable. These radical extremists are not welcome in our state and are now prohibited from acquiring any real property interest in Texas.”
Despite all this, neither the Muslim Brotherhood nor CAIR shows up on the federal government’s terrorist list.
The Muslim Brotherhood claims to have turned over a new leaf, disavowing any violence associated with it. They even boast about funding hospitals and schools, according to outfits like the Council on Foreign Relations.
CAIR fired back at DeSantis with a predictable response, vowing to fight the order in court.
In their statement, they said they look forward to “defeating Governor DeSantis’ latest Israel First stunt in a court of law, where facts matter and conspiracy theories have no weight.”
They didn’t stop there: “Like Greg Abbott in Texas, Ron DeSantis is an Israel First politician who wants to smear and silence Americans, especially American Muslims, critical of U.S. support for Israel’s war crimes.”
CAIR had already trashed Abbott’s move as “defamatory and lawless” and insisted they won’t “be intimidated by smear campaigns.”
Moves like this from DeSantis and Abbott send a strong message: America won’t tolerate groups that hide behind civil rights rhetoric while supporting terror.
