Republicans have had betrayals in the past. But this one may take the cake.
And a former Trump ally betrayed the Republican Party with this ridiculous claim.
During an appearance on CNN’s The Situation Room this past Tuesday, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) didn’t hold back, declaring flat-out that the Republican Party isn’t taking women “seriously.”
Host Wolf Blitzer jumped right in, pointing out the sharp words from Greene’s fellow Republican, Congresswoman Nancy Mace.
In her fresh opinion piece, Mace lays it out: Speaker Mike Johnson might beat his predecessor, but the daily grind for everyday House members gets worse when some folks—especially women—get shoved to the sidelines with zero input.
Blitzer quoted Mace directly: Speaker Johnson “Is better than his predecessor. The frustrations of being a rank and file House Member are compounded as certain individuals or groups remain marginalized within the party, getting little say women will never be taken seriously until leadership decides to take us seriously.”
Then Blitzer pressed on Johnson’s big talk, where he brags about being the “biggest champion of women GOP lawmakers.”
He asked Greene straight up if we’re on the verge of a full-blown women’s revolt in the House Republican ranks.
Greene fired back without missing a beat. “I read her op ed and I thought it was masterfully written. And she’s right. And this is something that I’ve been speaking out against for for quite some time now. It is extremely frustrating.”
“As a rank and file Republican member in our majority, our Republican majority that many of us women are not taken seriously in our legislation is not taken seriously.”
Co-host Pamela Brown followed up, grilling Greene on why Johnson keeps claiming he’s the top defender of women in the party.
And she wanted to know if this could spark more walkouts or even a straight-up rebellion among GOP women.
Greene didn’t sugarcoat it. “Well, you’re seeing it. I don’t know how he can speak out of one side of his mouth but his actions fully show the hypocrisy.”
She spotlighted Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, who’s fighting tooth and nail with a discharge petition on a crucial bill to overhaul how Congress members handle stock ownership.
Luna’s got the guts to push for real change, but Johnson’s nowhere to be found, refusing to rally support or bring it to a vote.
But Greene didn’t stop there. She called out Rep. Elise Stefanik’s recent clash with the Speaker over a key amendment that mattered big time.
This showdown exposes the deep divide in the GOP: between Republicans – like Greene, Mace, Luna, and Stefanik – and the House Speaker.
