No one knows how he’d pull it off. But the third term speculation has reached a fever pitch.

And now Trump was just given a staggering offer to run for a third term.

Adelson’s Playful $250 Million Pledge for Third Term

At a festive White House Hanukkah event, billionaire Miriam Adelson jokingly proposed donating $250 million to President Trump’s campaign if he pursues a third term in 2028, bypassing the 22nd Amendment.

“I met [former Harvard Law School professor] Alan Dershowitz. And he said the legal thing about four more years. And I say, ‘Alan, I agree with you.’ So we can do it. Think about it,” Adelson told Trump at a White House Hanukkah celebration.

As guests enthusiastically chanted “Four more years!,” Adelson leaned in with a further remark that wasn’t fully audible.

“She said, ‘Think about it, I’ll give you another $250 million,’” the president told his guests.

“I will give,” the widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson confirmed into the microphone.

Adelson, an Israel-born philanthropist whose family fortune approaches $42 billion per Forbes estimates, has long backed pro-Israel leaders, including Trump in previous elections.

Trump’s Ongoing Teases of 2028 Run

The 79-year-old president has frequently hinted at another bid for office—complete with “Trump 2028” merchandise—despite the Constitution’s clear limit on presidential elections to two terms.

Dershowitz could not immediately be reached for comment on his legal theory for how Trump could stay in power through January 2033.

Trump has oscillated on the idea, sometimes treating it seriously and other times acknowledging legal barriers.

While traveling in Asia in October, Trump ruled out the most-discussed option of running as Vice President JD Vance’s running mate to get around the 22nd Amendment’s restriction on being “elected” twice, and then having Vance resign so he could retake power.

“I think the people wouldn’t like that,” he told reporters at the time. “It’s too cute. It wouldn’t be right.”

Aide Downplays Serious Intent Behind Jokes

Close advisors indicate the third-term banter is largely in good spirits rather than a genuine plan.

In an interview with Vanity Fair published Tuesday, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles insisted that Trump has no interest in seeking a third term, but added that “he sure is having fun with it.”
