The dust has barely settled from the 2025 elections in Virginia, and already the Democrats who’ve taken their oaths are launching a full-scale assault on Americans’ Second Amendment freedoms.
It’s like they couldn’t wait to get their hands on the levers of power to start chipping away at what makes America great – the right to bear arms without government meddling.
Just days into the new year, on January 10, Breitbart News spotlighted the Democrats’ opening salvo: a $500 tax on sales of suppressors in the Commonwealth. They also introduced an “assault weapons” ban.
But they didn’t stop there. On January 15, the NRA-ILA called attention to HB 919, which slaps an 11% tax on gun and ammo sales.
Then there’s HB 916, which “[expands] the curriculum requirements for Virginia concealed carry permit classes.”
Sounds innocent enough, but we know what this really means – more hoops to jump through, more bureaucracy to navigate, all designed to discourage folks from exercising their right to carry.
Don’t forget HB 901, which widen’s Virginia’s red flag law. These laws let the government swoop in and seize your guns based on flimsy accusations, without due process.
It’s a direct attack on your presumption of innocence, turning neighbors or ex-spouses into potential informants against your rights.
And if that wasn’t enough, HB 700 is pushing for a mandatory five-day waiting period to buy firearms.
HB 871 takes it even further by putting together strict requirements for the storage of guns.
These bills aren’t isolated ideas; they’re part of a coordinated effort to erode Americans’ liberties bit by bit, making it tougher for patriots to stand their ground.
Think about it – higher taxes on suppressors and ammo mean fewer people can afford to train properly or equip themselves adequately. It’s pricing out the working class from self-defense.
Expanded classes for concealed carry? That’s just code for more government oversight, more fees, more time wasted in classrooms instead of at the range honing skills.
Broadening red flag laws opens the door to abuse, where political enemies or disgruntled folks can strip you of your rights without a fair hearing. It’s un-American at its core.
Waiting periods and storage mandates treat gun owners like children who can’t be trusted.
Democrats in power are showing their true colors, prioritizing control over the Constitution.
