Some members of SCOTUS are off their rocker. But they’re getting called out for it.

And a top lawyer went scorched earth on these Supreme Court justices.

During an episode of Fox News Channel’s Ingraham Angle, George Washington University Law Professor and Fox News Contributor Jonathan Turley broke down the Supreme Court arguments over birthright citizenship. What he witnessed left even seasoned court watchers stunned by the sudden role reversal playing out inside the highest court in the land.

Turley zeroed in on the awkward spot liberal justices found themselves in as they wrestled with more than a century of settled law.

The case forces everyone to confront the plain text of the 14th Amendment and whether it truly hands automatic citizenship to anyone born on American soil, no matter the status of their parents.

“[T]hese justices really were grappling with over 100 years of precedent. The hilarious aspect of this, Laura, and I’m sure you felt the same way, was to hear the liberal justices, who rarely allow the language of the Constitution to stand in the way of a preferred interpretation, but they seemed to be channeling Scalia today, talking about we really have to go back to that original intent, and it’s pretty clear this is the English rule. And that obviously played to the conservative justices,” Turley stated.

Turley could barely contain his amusement at the scene. For years, Americans have watched activist judges treat the Constitution like silly putty, stretching it to fit whatever social agenda suits the moment.

Now, facing a challenge that strikes at the heart of unchecked immigration, those same justices suddenly sounded like strict constructionists.

The irony was thick enough to cut with a knife. Here were the usual suspects who champion “living document” nonsense suddenly preaching fidelity to the Framers’ exact words.

They insisted the amendment follows the old English common-law tradition that citizenship flows from the soil, not blood or loyalty.

Yet even as they clung to that interpretation, the liberals’ discomfort was obvious. They knew the stakes: a ruling against automatic citizenship for illegal aliens would slam the door on one of the biggest magnets pulling millions across the border every year.

Turley nailed the conservative side of the courtroom dynamic with surgical precision.

He stated that “for conservatives, they tend to run home to this place, they tend to follow the precedent, they tend not to read too much into the language, and that’s benefiting the left here.”

This birthright citizenship battle cuts to the core of American sovereignty. For too long, open-border policies have treated the United States like a giant welcome mat with no strings attached.

Foreign nationals cross illegally, have children, and suddenly claim the full benefits and privileges of citizenship while owing zero allegiance to the country.
