Both parties are desperate to win the midterms. But only one will prevail.

And a leading GOP senator laid out a genius plan to take down Democrats this fall.

Senate Majority Leader John Thune appeared on Fox Business’ Mornings with Maria Wednesday and delivered a clear-eyed assessment of the road ahead for Republicans in the upcoming midterm elections. Far from backing down, Thune sketched a determined strategy focused on strong candidates, proven results, and exposing the radical Democrats trying to hold onto power.

Thune made it plain that Republicans are not just hunkering down. While some seats require tough defense, the party is seizing chances to expand its majority in key battlegrounds.

This fight is about more than holding ground—it’s about pushing forward for the forgotten men and women tired of Washington’s leftward lurch.

The South Dakota senator stressed the fundamentals that win races. Quality candidates stand at the center of the effort.

A solid record of delivering for the American people gives them something real to campaign on. And making sure those messages reach voters demands serious resources and organization.

“Leader, let me end on the midterm elections, and ask you, how you’re feeling?” host Maria Bartiromo asked.

“Because the other day I saw what Chuck Schumer was saying over and over again, we’re going to take down Susan Collins, and we will take back the Senate.”

“Well, I mean, I think that any election starts with quality candidates, and I think in all the competitive races around the country, we’ve got really high quality candidates,” Thune said in response.

“And then you’ve got to have a record of accomplishment to run on. You’ve got to have resources to get that message, that story out to the American people in their states, and our job is to ensure that we’ve got those resources.”

“Now, this is a tough political environment. It’s a midterm election. The president is not on the ballot, which means turnout is going to be an issue, and we’ve got to really be working the ground game. But I think we’ve got strong candidates in the right places.”

At the heart of the strategy lies sharp differentiation. Elections boil down to choices, and Republicans must paint clear pictures of what each side represents.

Democrats in these races embody the most extreme elements of their party—radicals completely detached from everyday American values.
