This is shocking. Not many people could’ve seen this coming.
And a top Democrat operative threatens to ditch the party.
James Carville has spent decades as an operative in the Democrat Party.
Now the veteran strategist is drawing a hard line. He refuses to share a political home with Hasan Piker, the online personality known for open Marxist views and constant attacks on American institutions.
During an appearance on the Sunday Briefing, Carville made his position unmistakable.
“I am not going to be in the same party with Hasan Piker, I can tell you that right now. If he becomes a force in the Democratic Party, I’m out of here,” he said, according to Fox News.
That is not the talk of a man who thinks the Democratic Party can paper over its differences with another round of fundraising emails and celebrity endorsements.
Carville sees Piker as the face of a faction that wants to drag the party into territory most Americans reject.
He went further, leaving no room for negotiation:
“I have no intention of ever being in the same political party with that guy. I think an overwhelming majority of Democrats agree with me, but this idea that we’re going to seize the means of production, and just go look at the DSA platform. You don’t have to look any further than that. It may be that the two-party system is just going to be under tremendous stress here in the coming months. I mean, you see it with Tucker [Carlson] and Marjorie Taylor Greene on the Republican side.”
Carville’s reference to the Democratic Socialists of America platform is telling.
Ordinary voters notice when a major party starts sounding like it is auditioning for a role in a failed experiment from the last century.
The strategist did not pretend the fight would be easy or that the outcome was already decided:
“I can’t sit here and tell you for certain how this is going to turn out but the one thing I can tell you for certain, Hasan Piker and James Carville are not going to be in the same political party. One of us is going to leave. It might even be me.”
Those words land with force because they come from inside the Democratic tent.
Carville is not a conservative activist or a talk-radio host looking for clicks.
He is a man who understands how the machine works for Democrats. When someone like him says the party is becoming unrecognizable, the warning carries weight.
