And Donald Trump just got called one name that will make his skin crawl.
Florida Democrats just handed Republicans another gift on a silver platter. On Monday, Senate hopeful Angie Nixon sat down on MS NOW’s The Beat and declared that Donald Trump “is basically a communist.”
Yes, you read that right. The same party that spent years cheering government takeovers of health care, energy, and speech now wants voters to believe the man who cut taxes, deregulated industries, and put America first is the real red under the bed.
Nixon tried to burnish her street-cred credentials while she was at it.
“Folks don’t realize, but I am not someone who just popped up overnight. I have been a union organizer and a community organizer in the state for the past nearly two decades, and so I’ve built a really unique, diverse coalition across the state, and people have been leaning in,” she stated.
“Just this weekend alone, we had over 700 volunteers that were out on doors knocking for us across the state of Florida, and that’s only expanding.”
Two decades of professional organizing. That is the resume of someone steeped in the same progressive activist networks that have spent years demanding more government power over private life. Yet somehow she believes she is the one who can spot communism.
She then turned her fire on Republican Attorney General Ashley Moody, the clear favorite to keep the seat in Republican hands.
“Ashley Moody is so in total lockstep with Donald Trump. You just had a gentleman on who was talking about how he has taken over Venezuela. That sounds like communism to me. They’re taking over their oil reserves and wanting to sell them off. That is the epitome of what communism is,” Nixon stated.
Let that sink in. Trump’s tough stance against a failed socialist regime that has wrecked its own oil industry and driven millions into poverty is, according to Nixon, the height of communism.
The actual communists who nationalized everything and turned Venezuela into a basket case somehow get a pass.
Nixon kept going: “She is, you know, kissing up to a president that is basically a communist. He’s taking control of private industries in another country. He’s also cozying up to someone like the guy in North Korea who is a known communist. And so Ashley Moody is bad for Florida.”
This is the level of analysis Florida Democrats are offering voters in 2026.
Call the opposition the very thing you have spent your career advancing, then hope no one notices the contradiction.
