The midterms are quickly approaching. Both parties are desperate to win.
And a U.S. Senator just gave Republicans a blueprint to win the midterms.
Sen. Rand Paul is sounding the alarm that too many Republicans are sleepwalking into electoral disaster.
On Newsmax TV’s The Big Take, the Kentucky senator laid out a blunt message for candidates fighting in battleground states: stop pretending the status quo is fine and start telling voters the hard truth.
Paul did not mince words. GOP candidates in those key states “need to tell the people that the trade war with Canada is a mistake and you’re opposed to it, you need to tell people the Iran War needs to stop as soon as possible.”
He warned that the usual playbook is running out of gas. “If you just go out there and say, vote for me, the other people are worse, they’re socialist and we’re less socialist, I don’t know if it’s enough.”
That warning cuts against the grain of recent campaign strategy. For years the right has relied on pointing at the left’s excesses and assuming voters will choose the lesser evil.
Paul insists that approach no longer works when families are getting crushed at the grocery store and the gas pump.
He reminded viewers that the Republican case has always been harder to sell:
“Our argument has always been more difficult. They will offer you a free car, a free lunch, free college, free healthcare. And what Republicans are offering is so much better, but it’s intangible. We’re offering opportunity and freedom, the idea to practice your own religion, the idea to own a gun, the idea to be free from a government search, the Bill of Rights.”
Those principles still matter. But principles alone do not pay the heating bill.
Paul zeroed in on the cost-of-living crisis that Washington keeps trying to paper over.
Inflation may have slowed compared with the Biden years, yet the damage is already baked in.
