And this major Democrat ally just came out as a terrorist sympathizer.
A vocal anti-Israel activist, known for her donations to Rep. Rashida Tlaib’s House campaigns, openly mourned the assassination of a top Hamas leader on Wednesday, proclaiming his “martyrdom is not in vain.”
Zahra Billoo, a disgraced former Women’s March leader and the executive director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) in San Francisco, took to social media following the reported assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran, Iran.
This event led Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei to vow “revenge” for the attack.
“Never say that those martyred in the cause of Allah are dead—in fact, they are alive! But you do not perceive it,” Billoo posted, quoting the Quran.
She continued, “Tonight, we mourn Ismail himself but know his martyrdom is not in vain. From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free.”
Billoo added in a follow-up X thread, accusing Israel of “genocide,” saying, “I mourn yesterday’s martyrs because I can see the horrific path k*lling peace negotiators leads to.”
Billoo’s post drew immediate backlash, with many mocking the Quran quote and asserting the Hamas leader is “not alive.” Journalist Bari Weiss remarked, “Probably important to remember this, too, whenever you see the name CAIR.”
Billoo, who has donated nearly $1,000 to multiple Tlaib campaigns, has been mired in controversy over her anti-Israel rhetoric.
This led to her ousting from the Women’s March board in 2019 after just two days. She blamed her removal on an “Islamophobic smear campaign” and “right-wingers.”
Despite the uproar, Tlaib defended Billoo the day after her ouster, posting on X, “#FreePalestine always sis! They won’t silence us for speaking out against human rights violations. They will lie, smear our names and call us anti this and that, but we always be pro-humanity & we have the truth on our side. Stay strong.”
Several of Billoo’s inflammatory posts resurfaced on social media after her Women’s March appointment. In one 2014 post, Billoo wrote, “If you support Israel, you are no doubt supporting baby k*llers.”
She also described Zionism as “racism” and declared herself a “proud anti-Zionist.” Reflecting on these posts in 2019, Billoo said, “While I may have phrased some of my content differently today, I stand by my words.”
In early 2019, Billoo took a “selfie” with Tlaib outside her Washington, D.C., congressional office, stating, “Not all sheros wear capes, some like Rep. [Tlaib] wear Congressional pins!” Tlaib responded, “So good to see you sis! I will always speak truth to power because I got you to protect.”
Billoo attended a Tlaib fundraising event in California in 2021, according to a Facebook post.
This isn’t the first time a CAIR leader has sparked outrage on social media. Last December, Nihad Awad, CAIR’s executive director and co-founder, expressed support for the October 7 Hamas invasion of Israel, stating that the Jewish state, being an “occupying power,” has no right to self-defense. He argued that the people of Gaza have the right to defend themselves.
Beyond her anti-Israel rhetoric, Billoo has repeatedly attacked Memorial Day and disparaged the U.S. military, questioning the honor of fallen soldiers.
“You think we should honor people who commit war crimes?” she asked in one post. In a 2019 thread, she wrote, “Did not and does not celebrate #MemorialDay. There cannot be any honor earned through participation in dishonorable wars.”
Tlaib’s office did not respond to Fox News Digital’s request for comment.
