Sanders isn’t getting any younger. His recent actions in the Senate further prove that.
And Bernie Sanders has an aneurysm during a Senate hearing that left the Capitol in a state of shock.
During a heated Senate Finance Committee hearing on Wednesday, Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) took aim at Health and Human Services nominee Robert F. Kennedy Jr., pressing him on his past affiliations and alleged anti-vaccine messaging.
While Kennedy has repeatedly stated that he is not anti-vaccine, Sanders challenged him over baby onesies sold by the organization he founded, Children’s Health Defense, that promoted an unvaccinated status.
Sanders, who caucuses with the Democrats, joined his colleagues in using the hearing as an opportunity to scrutinize Kennedy’s past statements on vaccines rather than focus on his current policy positions. Democrats on the committee seized on the opportunity to paint Kennedy as a dangerous figure, hoping to derail his nomination by associating him with controversial views.
The exchange began with Sanders acknowledging Kennedy’s current rhetoric but questioning his past affiliations. “I think the gist of what you are trying to say today is you’re really pro-vaccine, you want to ask questions,” Sanders said.
He then pivoted to Kennedy’s former organization, pointing out the sale of baby clothing featuring slogans such as “UNVAXXED, UNAFRAID” and “NO VAX, NO PROBLEM.”
“Now you’re coming before this committee and you say you are pro-vaccine, just want to ask some questions. And yet your organization is making money selling a child’s product to parents for 26 bucks, which casts fundamental doubt on you on the usefulness of vaccines,” Sanders charged. He then demanded to know whether Kennedy would intervene to have the items removed from sale.
Kennedy pushed back, noting that he had stepped down from the organization and no longer had control over its decisions. “Senator, I have no power over that organization. I’m not a part of it,” he explained.
Sanders, unwilling to accept Kennedy’s response, interrupted. “That was just a few months ago! You founded that, you certainly have power. … Are you supportive of this?”
Kennedy remained firm, refusing to be drawn into the argument over the onesies. “I’ve had nothing to do with—” he started, before Sanders cut him off again, demanding, “Are you supportive of these onesies!?”
“I’m supportive of vaccines,” Kennedy reiterated.
“Are you supportive of these — this clothing, which is militantly anti-vaccine?” Sanders continued.
“I am supportive of vaccines. I want good science and I want to protect —” Kennedy responded, only to be interrupted once more.
“But you will not tell the organization you founded not to continue selling that product,” Sanders concluded, continuing his attack.

Democrats Determined to Block Trump’s Cabinet Picks
The aggressive questioning of Kennedy is part of a broader effort by Senate Democrats to obstruct President Trump’s cabinet nominees at every turn. From delaying hearings to launching personal attacks, their strategy is clear: block, discredit, and derail any nominee who doesn’t align with their radical agenda.
Kennedy, who has long been a controversial figure due to his past skepticism of vaccine mandates, has since emphasized that his position is rooted in a desire for transparency and safety. However, this has not deterred Democrats from using his past affiliations to cast doubt on his credibility.
The resistance to Kennedy mirrors the Democratic Party’s approach to Trump’s nominees, many of whom have faced hostile questioning and relentless scrutiny. Whether on issues of healthcare, foreign policy, or judicial appointments, the opposition has been unwavering and quite frankly unfair. But that’s to be expected given that the Democrat Party’s playbook is rooted in unfairness.
