AOC Blasts Elon Musk as ‘Unintelligent’ in Fiery Rant, Faces Swift Backlash
New York City Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez reignited her ongoing feud with billionaire Elon Musk during an impassioned Instagram Live session on Monday, taking direct aim at his intelligence and decision-making. Her remarks quickly drew criticism from conservatives and Musk supporters alike.
“This dude is probably one of the most unintelligent billionaires I have ever met or seen or witnessed,” Ocasio-Cortez declared to her 8.5 million followers.
She continued, doubling down on her stance against the tech mogul: “This dude is not smart, and the danger in the lack of intelligence and the lack of expertise that Elon has, I mean, this guy is one of the most morally vacant but also just least knowledgeable about these systems that we know of.”
The Leftist congresswoman’s comments come amid tensions over Musk’s involvement in government efficiency efforts—an initiative she and her Democratic colleagues strongly oppose.
Musk’s Track Record in Innovation
Musk moved to the United States in the 1990s, where he quickly made a name for himself in the tech industry. He first co-founded Zip2 before launching another company, which later became PayPal. Using proceeds from those ventures, he founded SpaceX and later took Tesla to new and impressive heights.
His companies have continued to push the boundaries of innovation. SpaceX is currently developing Starship, a revolutionary reusable heavy-lift rocket. Last year, its first stage was successfully caught by the Mechazilla arms at Starbase in a breakthrough moment for space technology.
Musk’s ability to immerse himself in complex engineering challenges is well-documented. Employees frequently cite his hands-on approach to problem-solving, and biographer Walter Isaacson has described him as a genius in material properties and engineering, though noting that he is “not a genius” in understanding human emotions.
AOC Targets Musk’s Government Involvement
Ocasio-Cortez’s latest critique centered on Musk’s role in the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which recently secured access to the federal payment system to scrutinize government expenditures. The move has sparked outcry among Democrats, who accuse Musk and Republicans of bypassing congressional authority in their efforts to restructure federal agencies.
“They don’t do their homework, clearly,” Ocasio-Cortez said of the GOP. “Like, they’re putting 19-year-olds in at the Treasury.”
She further alleged that Musk had assumed an outsized role in former President Donald Trump’s political strategy. “What Donald Trump has done is that he has completely given up his power and handed a lot of it over to Elon Musk,” she claimed. “Elon Musk has appointed some teenagers and some people in their early 20s into essentially trying to raid government systems.”
Social Media Backlash
Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks quickly sparked backlash from conservatives, who mocked her for questioning Musk’s intelligence. “AOC calling Elon Musk ‘unintelligent’ might actually be the dumbest thing she has ever said, which is really saying something,” conservative commentator Charlie Kirk quipped.
Political commentator Stephen Miller added, “She doesn’t actually do anything but Instagram videos. She hates her job so much. She has to review committee assignments and check emails all day and all she wants to do is make Instagram videos.”
Musk himself has previously dismissed Ocasio-Cortez’s criticisms, once joking that she would never date him and suggesting that she’s “not that smart.”
