DeSantis is one of the nation’s best governors. But his time is almost up.

And this Ron DeSantis replacement news has Republicans completely flabbergasted.

Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is arguably the best governor in the United States. His no-nonsense style in governing Florida has helped the state thrive in many ways.

DeSantis has constantly rejected the woke ideologies of the Left that have threatened to enter the Sunshine State, which has helped it become as strong as it is.

And under his watch, Florida has also been a big destination for U.S. citizens who are looking to move out of blue states like California or New York.

But unfortunately for Floridians, Ron DeSantis can’t stay governor forever. He’s going to be term-limited soon and someone else will have to run in his place.

Casey DeSantis Weighing Bid for Florida Governor in 2026

Florida’s first lady, Casey DeSantis, is reportedly considering a run to succeed her husband, Governor Ron DeSantis, in 2026. According to sources who spoke with the New York Post, discussions about her potential candidacy are already underway.

With Governor DeSantis unable to seek a third term due to term limits, Republican donors are eager to see Casey step into the race.

“This has always been in the plans. She’s as ambitious as he is,” said a source close to her camp.

“They’ve always seen themselves as a new emerging political power couple. She is considering a run and is talking to a lot of different people about the possibilities. She wants it very much.”

The possibility of Casey DeSantis becoming Florida’s first female governor was openly discussed at a recent gathering in Palm Beach County, as reported by NBC News.

Her background as a former Jacksonville news anchor and Golf Channel host, combined with her visibility during her husband’s campaigns, has given her a strong public profile.

She has been a key figure in both of Ron DeSantis’ gubernatorial victories and played a prominent role in his 2024 presidential bid, despite its eventual failure.

If she enters the race, she will face stiff competition from other Republicans eyeing the governor’s mansion.

Potential contenders include Rep. Byron Donalds, a Trump ally; former Rep. Matt Gaetz, who resigned from Congress in 2024; and Agriculture Commissioner Wilton Simpson, who has had a contentious relationship with Governor DeSantis.

Ron DeSantis, according to NBC, sees his wife’s potential run as a way to shape Florida’s future leadership and prevent a Simpson or Donalds administration.

The DeSantises first met on a golf course at Naval Station Mayport, later tying the knot at Disney World in 2009. Casey became the state’s youngest first lady at age 38 when her husband took office in 2019.

Should she enter and ultimately win the race, Florida would see its first female governor—joining the ranks of states that have broken that barrier.
