All eyes are on one Supreme Court showdown. The results will change the nation.
And this Supreme Court fight got hotter than ever with this big announcement.
AFP-WI Launches Ads in Support of Brad Schimel’s Bid for Wisconsin Supreme Court
The Americans for Prosperity-Wisconsin (AFP-WI) kicked off a new advertising campaign on Wednesday to boost former Republican Wisconsin Attorney General Brad Schimel’s bid for a seat on the state’s Supreme Court. This latest round of ads are designed to show Schimel’s dedication to public safety and his commitment to safeguarding Wisconsin residents’ constitutional rights. In contrast, the ads cast his opponent, Susan Crawford, a Left-wing candidate, as someone deeply engaged in unpopular far-Left politics.
According to reporters, this race has drawn significant attention due to its potential impact on the future of Wisconsin’s judicial landscape. The upcoming election, scheduled for April 1, is considered one of the most consequential races of 2025. The winner of this race will secure a ten-year term on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court, where they will play a pivotal role in decisions surrounding redistricting, pro-life policies, and other cultural issues in this critical swing state.
Though state Supreme Court elections in Wisconsin are officially nonpartisan, the political Left is seen to have a narrow 4-3 majority following the 2023 election of liberal judge Janet Protasiewicz. With the impending retirement of liberal justice Ann Walsh Bradley, conservatives see an opportunity to reclaim control of the state’s highest court. Schimel, with the endorsement of the Wisconsin Republican Party, is vying for that opportunity. On the other hand, Crawford enjoys support from the state’s Democratic Party.
In its efforts to support Schimel, AFP-WI is investing heavily in the race. The group has already connected with over 225,000 voters since before Thanksgiving. AFP-WI State Director Megan Novak emphasized that their message resonates strongly with Wisconsinites, who are seeking a candidate that will uphold the rule of law and defend constitutional freedoms. “Voters know Susan Crawford is too radical for our state and our families. Brad Schimel is the only candidate we can trust to put partisan politics aside and restore balance and integrity to our state’s highest court,” Novak shared with reporters.
“The stakes are high, and AFP-WI’s grassroots army is locked in to elect Brad Schimel on April 1st,” Novak added. AFP-WI, which officially endorsed Schimel in November, is behind a $1 million ad buy to promote his candidacy.
Novak also drew a direct connection between the outcome of the Wisconsin Supreme Court race and the future of President Donald Trump’s agenda. In an appearance on Fox News on February 17, Novak warned that if Democrats succeed in electing Crawford, they would potentially shift control of the Wisconsin State Supreme Court in their favor, opening the door to gerrymandering efforts that could influence future elections.
“What’s really at stake, and the opponent in this race Susan Crawford who’s a progressive leftist… is fundraising — that they are looking at putting two congressional seats in play for 2026 for Democrats to take back the majority through the Wisconsin Supreme Court,” Novak said. “They Democrats want to gerrymander those two seats in Wisconsin to put the majority at play so they can stop the Trump agenda and everything that Trump is doing at the national level through a Wisconsin Supreme Court race that they think not many people are paying attention to.”
The race for the Wisconsin State Supreme Court has garnered significant outside spending, with both conservative and liberal groups pouring millions of dollars into the contest. Schimel’s supporters include the House Freedom Caucus-aligned House Freedom Action, the Republican State Leadership Committee, Elon Musk-backed America PAC, Musk-aligned Building America’s Future, and the conservative group Fair Courts America.
On the opposing side, Crawford’s campaign has attracted funding from prominent Democratic figures, including Democratic megadonor George Soros, Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, and venture capitalist Reid Hoffman.
With the future of Wisconsin’s judicial landscape at stake, the outcome of this race is likely to have long-lasting effects on state-level policies which will in turn have major consequences for the nation with Wisconsin frequently in the position as a swing state.
