The unthinkable has happened. President Trump just got approval from one of his biggest enemies.

And hell has frozen over after this host of The View joined forces with Donald Trump.

Whoopi Goldberg’s Surprising Take on Trump’s Education Overhaul Sparks Debate

On a Tuesday episode of ABC’s The View, co-host Whoopi Goldberg delivered a passionate defense of President Donald Trump’s proposal to eliminate the Department of Education, a move that sent shockwaves through the studio and prompted a swift cut to commercial. Her unexpected stance ignited a fiery discussion about the future of education in America, drawing both praise and criticism.

Goldberg, engaging in a candid exchange with co-host Sunny Hostin, suggested that dismantling the Department of Education could have a silver lining. “Maybe some of what’s happening, like, you know, they’re trying to take apart the Department of Education,” she said, prompting a simple “Yes” from Hostin.

Goldberg continued, “Maybe that is a good thing. Because maybe it will force us to make sure that our kids actually get what they need. Maybe it’ll force us to go to our state and say, ‘Listen, I want to make sure, since you’re taking all this money from my taxes, I want to make sure that my kids get exactly what they need. I don’t have to wait for the government to do it.’”

Her words carried a sense of urgency and empowerment, emphasizing that the responsibility for children’s education could shift directly into the hands of parents and communities.

“We can do it. This is now in our hands. This is in our hands, and it’s going to be tough. And nobody wants to do it because it’s a b*tch. But you know what? If it comes down to your survival, this is what you got to do. You got to take care of what you got to take care of,” she declared. Moments later, producers interrupted to send the show to a commercial break.

The clip quickly gained traction online, catching the attention of Secretary of Education Linda McMahon, who shared it on X with enthusiasm. “Even Whoopi Goldberg knows — it’s time to do the best thing for our children and send education back to the states. Welcome to the team!” McMahon wrote, signaling her approval of Goldberg’s perspective.

Goldberg’s comments come at a time of heightened tension surrounding the Trump administration’s education policies. Just weeks prior, the NAACP launched a lawsuit against the Department of Education, accusing it of unlawfully slashing funding for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.

According to Reuters, “The NAACP sued the U.S. Department of Education on Tuesday to stop its alleged illegal effort to cut off funding to schools that use diversity, equity and inclusion programs, and prevent Black students from receiving equal education opportunities.”

The lawsuit, filed in Washington, D.C., criticized the administration for targeting initiatives that promote “truthful, inclusive curricula,” equal access to advanced educational opportunities for Black Americans, and efforts to combat racism while fostering a sense of belonging.

The Trump administration’s push to dismantle the Department of Education is a cornerstone of its agenda to reshape the nation’s educational landscape. Proponents argue that decentralizing education would empower states and local communities to tailor curricula and policies to their specific needs, free from federal oversight.

They contend that the Department of Education has grown bloated and inefficient, imposing one-size-fits-all mandates that stifle innovation and parental choice.

Critics, however, warn that eliminating the department could exacerbate inequities, particularly for marginalized communities. The NAACP’s lawsuit highlights concerns that defunding DEI programs and loosening federal protections could disproportionately harm Black students, limiting their access to quality education and inclusive environments.

Without a federal framework, opponents fear that disparities in funding and resources between wealthy and underserved districts could widen, leaving vulnerable students at a disadvantage.

The debate over the Department of Education’s fate reflects a deeper divide over the role of government in ensuring educational equity versus prioritizing local control.

As the Trump administration moves forward with its plan, the nation watches closely, grappling with questions about how best to prepare the next generation for a rapidly changing world.

Goldberg’s bold stance on The View has only intensified the conversation, proving that even unexpected voices can agree with Trump’s common-sense proposals.
