Democrats have officially gone off the deep end. They still can’t handle the fact that Trump won the presidency.
And what this Democrat congressman claimed about the 2024 election will leave you red with rage.
Swalwell’s Election Denial Fuels Political Firestorm
In a recent appearance on a progressive podcast, Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) reignited his ongoing feud with President Donald Trump, casting doubt on the integrity of the 2024 presidential election. The California congressman seized the opportunity to amplify concerns about election security, pointing fingers at tech mogul Elon Musk and hinting at potential misconduct during the 2024 race.
The podcast host set the stage, alleging foreign interference in U.S. data and tying it to Musk’s Starlink network. “The enemies allegedly stole U.S. data. The leak came through Elon Musk Starlink,” she claimed, pressing Swalwell to address election safeguards for 2026 and 2028, given lingering anxieties about 2024’s security. Swalwell didn’t hesitate, diving headfirst into speculation about Musk’s role in the election.
“Elon Musk has done nothing in the last five months to make me think that we shouldn’t ask questions about what the hell he was doing in 2024,” Swalwell declared. He suggested that Democrats may have been too lenient with Musk post-election, accusing the billionaire of exposing Americans to foreign hackers and mishandling sensitive data, including Social Security and healthcare records.
“And maybe we gave him too much of the benefit of the doubt, you know, after the election, but the way that he’s conducted himself with DOGE, and the way that, you know, he’s exposed us to so many hackers outside, and the way that he’s taken data, you know, from Americans, from our records — whether it’s Social Security or health care records, the only way that we can understand, you know, what the hell Elon Musk has been doing is to be in the majority,” he added, noting that Democrats are just a few House seats shy of gaining subpoena power to investigate further.
Swalwell’s remarks fit a familiar pattern. The congressman, whose past includes a controversial connection to a Chinese operative known as “Fang Fang,” has consistently targeted Trump and his allies.
His rhetoric often leans on inflammatory claims, as seen in his opposition to the Laken Riley Act, where he argued it would lead to targeting individuals “because they’re brown.” Swalwell’s outspoken style has kept him in the spotlight, but it’s also drawn scrutiny, especially given his own political vulnerabilities.
Adding to the narrative, Amie Parnes, co-author of FIGHT, Inside the Wildest Battle for The White House, shared a revealing anecdote about Swalwell earlier this year. She recounted a moment at a congressional picnic where former President Joe Biden failed to recognize the congressman, despite their shared history as 2020 primary rivals.
“We detail, for instance, Congressman Swalwell, who was there, looking at him. They came face to face at a congressional picnic and the Congressman had to cue Biden as to who he was,” Parnes noted. “This was someone who ran against him in 2020. He’s very vocal.”
The Hypocrisy of Election Denial
Swalwell’s willingness to question the 2024 election’s legitimacy stands in stark contrast to the outrage he and fellow Democrats expressed when Trump challenged the 2020 results. Back then, Democrats, including Swalwell, condemned Trump’s claims as dangerous and baseless, accusing him of undermining democracy.
Swalwell himself was vocal and heavily criticized Trump’s actions. Yet now, he appears to be employing a similar playbook, sowing doubt about 2024 without concrete evidence, all while framing it as a defense of democracy.
This apparent double standard highlights a troubling inconsistency. In 2020, Democrats argued that questioning election outcomes eroded public trust and risked inciting unrest. Swalwell’s current rhetoric, however, seems to dismiss those concerns when it serves his narrative.
By casting aspersions on Musk and the 2024 election, he’s engaging in the same kind of speculation he once decried, raising questions about whether his principles are applied selectively based on political expediency.
The hypocrisy extends beyond Swalwell. Many Democrats who lambasted Trump’s election challenges have remained silent or supportive as their colleagues, like Swalwell, flirt with similar tactics.
This selective outrage suggests a willingness to weaponize election integrity concerns when it aligns with partisan goals, while condemning the same behavior from opponents. As the 2026 midterms approach, Swalwell’s comments may signal a strategy among some Democrats to keep election denial in their arsenal, despite their past criticisms of the practice.
Ultimately, Swalwell’s remarks reflect a deeper polarization in American politics, where accusations of electoral foul play have become a go-to tactic for rallying supporters. But by mirroring the behavior they once criticized, Democrats risk undermining their own credibility on the issue, leaving voters to question whether the pursuit of power has overshadowed the commitment to consistent democratic principles.
