DeSantis and Trump may have faced off in the GOP primary last year, but they align on more things than not. If anything, DeSantis is one of Trump’s top allies.

And Ron DeSantis did Trump a massive favor that could change everything for his presidency.

In a decisive step to strengthen immigration enforcement, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has unveiled a new initiative aimed at bolstering deportations. Speaking recently, DeSantis announced the state’s commitment to “help increase deportations” and support President Trump’s immigration policies through the establishment of a unique facility dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz.”

“Florida is stepping up to help increase deportations and fulfill President Trump’s mandate to enforce immigration law,” DeSantis declared, emphasizing the state’s proactive role. During a tour with Fox News’ Steve Doocy, he showcased the Miami-Dade Collier Training Facility, now approved by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to serve as a staging ground for detaining and deporting illegal migrants.

“Alligator Alcatraz is a secure facility in Florida that will stage criminal illegal aliens for efficient mass deportation,” he explained, highlighting its purpose.

The facility addresses a critical challenge in immigration enforcement: capacity. With a surge in detentions, DeSantis noted that “There needs to be more ability to intake process and then deport. So this answers that.”

Capable of processing over 3,000 individuals, the site features a massive runway for federal aircraft to transport deportees back to their home countries. “We’ve got a massive runway right behind us where any of the federal assets… they want to fly these people back to the country,” he said, calling it a “one stop shop” for streamlined operations.

Most of those processed at “Alligator Alcatraz” will likely be individuals apprehended within Florida, according to DeSantis. He pointed out that across the U.S., approximately 750,000 illegal migrants have been ordered for removal by immigration judges, with an estimated 50,000 or more residing in Florida alone.

“We’re going to have our hands full just with that,” he said, describing the facility as a “force multiplier” to tackle this challenge efficiently.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier echoed the governor’s enthusiasm, calling the site the “perfect location” for the state’s needs. “It’s a 30 square mile area surrounded by the Everglades, an old abandoned airport with an 11,000 foot runway, already developed land,” Uthmeier said to Breitbart News Daily.

The natural barrier provided by the Everglades minimizes the need for extensive perimeter security, as “Mother Nature provides it for us.” The state is moving swiftly to prepare thousands of beds, aiming to have the facility operational by early July to support the Trump administration’s deportation goals.

DeSantis confirmed that “Alligator Alcatraz” would begin intake operations as early as Tuesday, marking a rapid response to the pressing demands of immigration enforcement.

Why Florida is Becoming a Top Destination for Americans

Initiatives like “Alligator Alcatraz” reflect Florida’s assertive approach to governance, which is increasingly drawing Americans to the Sunshine State. Under DeSantis’ leadership, Florida has prioritized policies that resonate with those seeking stability, security, and economic opportunity.

The state’s firm stance on issues like immigration enforcement appeals to residents who value law and order, contributing to its reputation as a haven for those looking to escape states with more lenient or chaotic policies.

Beyond immigration, Florida’s appeal lies in its economic vitality and quality of life. The state has maintained low taxes, fostered a business-friendly environment, making it a magnet for entrepreneurs and families alike.

Additionally, Florida’s focus on individual freedoms and education reform has struck a chord with many Americans. DeSantis’ policies, such as protecting parental rights, have positioned Florida as a leader in educational innovation.

Along with its sunny climate, the state offers a lifestyle that blends opportunity with enjoyment. Moves like “Alligator Alcatraz” signal Florida’s commitment to addressing national challenges head-on, reinforcing its status as a top destination for those seeking a forward-thinking, secure, and prosperous place to call home.
