Democrats have been weaponizing the government for years. Now it’s time to fess up.

Because Trump signaled a move to take down another former FBI Director.

President Donald Trump on Sunday suggested that the Justice Department is likely investigating former FBI Director Christopher Wray, citing allegations of misconduct during Wray’s tenure, particularly surrounding the January 6, 2021, Capitol riot and the targeting of conservative groups.

Trump Questions Wray’s Actions on Jan. 6

In an interview with NBC News, Trump expressed confidence that the DOJ is scrutinizing Wray’s leadership. “I would imagine. I would certainly imagine. I would think they are doing that,” Trump said when asked about a potential investigation. He labeled Wray’s actions as “very inappropriate,” particularly focusing on claims that FBI agents were present in the Capitol crowd on January 6, 2021.

“And I think a lot of his service was very inappropriate. But we haven’t gone beyond that. Don’t forget, we just found out about all of these FBI agents being there,” he added.

The allegations stem from a Just the News report claiming the FBI “deployed” 274 agents in the crowd as part of a law enforcement effort to manage violence, not to incite it, as some, including Kari Lake, have suggested. A December 2024 DOJ Inspector General report clarified that 26 FBI confidential human sources (CHSs) were present, with only three tasked by the agency to attend.

One entered the Capitol, and two entered restricted areas, but none were authorized to break the law or encourage illegal acts, according to Inspector General Michael Horowitz.

“Our review determined that none of these FBI CHSs was authorized by the FBI to enter the Capitol or a restricted area or to otherwise break the law on January 6, nor was any CHS directed by the FBI to encourage others to commit illegal acts on January 6,” the report stated.

Allegations of Political Targeting

Beyond January 6, Trump and conservative critics have accused Wray of weaponizing the FBI against Republicans, pointing to the “Arctic Frost” investigation that allegedly targeted nearly 100 conservative organizations, including Charlie Kirk’s Turning Point USA.

Current FBI Director Kash Patel, in a Saturday interview with Fox News Digital, criticized Wray’s leadership, alleging that agents sent to the Capitol were part of a “crowd control mission” declared after the riot began, which he claimed violated “FBI standards.” Patel accused Wray of “corrupt leadership” that “lied to Congress and to the American people about what really happened.”

Wray, in 2023 congressional testimony, denied orchestrating any illicit operation, stating, “If you are asking if the violence at the Capitol was part of some operation orchestrated by FBI sources or agents, the answer is no.”

Push for Accountability Gains Momentum

Trump’s remarks amplify conservative demands for accountability, framing Wray’s tenure as a period of politicized overreach. The allegations of FBI misconduct, coupled with Patel’s claims of misleading statements to Congress, have fueled speculation about a DOJ probe.

As conservatives rally around these concerns, the debate over the FBI’s actions on January 6 and its treatment of political groups continues to dominate national discourse, with Trump signaling that justice may soon catch up with Wray.
