Republicans are constantly tormented for their beliefs. It’s getting ridiculous at this point.
And a GOP governor was threatened in an utterly heinous way by these radicals.
In the heart of Arkansas, where folks pride themselves on treating neighbors with genuine kindness no matter who they are, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders just got a firsthand lesson in how ugly political hatred can get at a local spot called The Croissanterie in Little Rock.
She was simply grabbing lunch with two other moms, minding her own business like any regular Arkansan trying to enjoy a meal out.
But after about an hour and fifteen minutes, with her group already seated, food eaten, bill paid, and tips left for the staff, the owner decided that was enough, according to what the governor’s office said to Fox News Digital.
The owner walked right up to a member of the governor’s State Police Executive Protection Detail and demanded the whole party pack up and go.
“Last week I was having lunch with two other moms at a restaurant when the owner approached a member of the State Police Executive Protection Detail and said my presence made their employees feel threatened and told us to leave,” Sanders stated.
“Arkansans are known for their warm hospitality, and while that restaurant certainly doesn’t meet that standard, my administration will continue to focus on lifting Arkansans up, not tearing others down with discrimination and hate.”
Her team confirmed to Fox News Digital that the visit happened on Friday, March 13, and everything was calm until the owner made that call based purely on Sanders’ political views making some staffers feel uncomfortable.
The governor and her group did the right thing and left without making a scene, but as they headed out the door, someone standing with the restaurant crew yelled at them to get gone and flashed a hateful hand gesture right at the governor.
The Croissanterie tried to spin their side in a long statement to local media, claiming they were caught off guard when they first spotted the governor walking in.
“By the time we entered the dining room, she was already seated and eating. At that point, we chose not to interrupt, expecting that the party would complete their meal and depart without issue,” the restaurant stated.
As minutes ticked by, though, they say the security detail started drawing eyes from workers and customers alike, sparking chatter about whether the group should even be there.
The owners painted it as a tough spot, worrying that letting her stay might look like they didn’t back their likely liberal-leaning team and the people tied to them.
“As business owners and members of this community, we recognized that any course of action carried consequences. Allowing her to stay risked being perceived as a lack of support for the community that makes up the majority of our team, as well as their families and friends. Conversely, asking her to leave could be viewed as denying service based on differing beliefs.”
In the end they picked a side and kicked her out anyway, claiming they just wanted to stand up for employees and guests who felt uneasy, even though they admitted they don’t remember anyone actually saying they felt threatened.
