The left can’t stand SCOTUS. They basically want to destroy it.
And the Supreme Court is in danger of a radical transformation thanks to this Democrat proposal.
Fresh off another week of Supreme Court decisions, Senate Democrats are already scheming their next power grab.
On Wednesday, Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts appeared on MS NOW’s On the Line and openly pushed for stacking the highest court in the land with new justices.
Host Alicia Menendez pressed the senator on the idea of court expansion, noting that while Markey has backed it before, many in his own party remain hesitant. Markey wasted no time confirming his radical stance.
“Yes, I am the author of the court expansion bill. The Republicans stole two Supreme Court seats in 2016 and 2020. That’s what’s giving them their supermajority. The only way to solve this problem in a very short period of time is to expand the Supreme Court by 4 seats, up to 13,” he stated.
“That would then restore the 7-6 majority, which should be in place right now. And we have to fight for that, and we can do that statutorily. It does not require a constitutional amendment. That has to be at the top of the agenda, and that’s what I’m talking to my colleagues about right now.”
There it is, straight from a sitting U.S. senator. No shame, no pretense of respecting institutional norms.
Just a blunt admission that Democrats want to pack the Court because they lost fair fights over nominations.
This isn’t some fringe proposal. Markey is floating legislation to add four seats, tilting the balance back toward activist judges who would rubber-stamp progressive priorities.
From open borders to climate mandates and restrictions on everyday freedoms, a packed Court would become a super-legislature for the left.
Americans who value limited government and originalist interpretation of the Constitution should see this for what it is: a direct assault on the separation of powers.
For years, Democrats have cried foul whenever conservatives filled vacancies left by retiring or deceased justices.
Yet when their own side had the chance, they rammed through nominees and now complain the system is broken.
Markey’s comments reveal the real game plan—change the rules mid-stream to guarantee outcomes they couldn’t win through elections or proper vetting.
The timing could not be more telling. Following rulings that likely frustrated the left’s agenda, Markey and his allies are ramping up pressure to push this agenda through.
