Sanders is very bitter these days. He’s also constantly spewing nonsense.
And Senator Sanders went on a rampage against his own party.
Bernie Sanders just reminded everyone why the Democratic Party remains a mess of its own making.
The leftist from Vermont went on the attack against his own side’s power brokers, calling them “way, way out of touch” with U.S. citizens.
The comments came during an appearance on the MeidasTouch podcast On Sunday.
Jack Cocchiarella, the host of the podcast, asked Sanders whether democratic socialists belong inside the Democratic Party at all.
Sanders flipped the script, stating, “Well, maybe the converse is true.”
“Maybe the Democratic establishment should begin to understand they are way, way out of touch with where the American people are. That we don’t need a party anymore which is dominated by wealthy campaign contributors.”
The host jumped in with an eager “Yes!” as if the Vermont independent had just delivered some profound truth.
For anyone outside the progressive bubble, the exchange only confirmed how deep the party’s internal rot runs.
Sanders did not stop there. He tore into Democrats for bowing to their richest backers.
“You know, the donor class said ‘you or you should be the candidate for the Senate’…’You should be running for the president of the United States.’ I don’t think that’s where the American people are,” Sanders stated.
In his view, the solution is simple:
“I think what the Democratic Party should become is a party of working people, of young people, of people of color, of people who understand what it’s like to struggle, who are prepared to take on the oligarchs, who want to see an economy that works for all, not just the few.”
Right Populists have said for years that the Democratic establishment lives in a different country from the voters it claims to represent.
Sanders, of all people, is now saying the same thing out loud.
The difference is that his cure is more socialism, more open borders, and more radical policies that most working Americans reject.
