Many on the radical wings of the Democrat Party don’t think Biden is going far enough. Now they’ve been hit with something out of left field.
And they’re trembling after Joe Biden double crossed them big time.
The Biden administration is looking to curtail access to asylum at the U.S.-Mexico border through a new regulation that could be announced as early as Thursday, according to four sources familiar with the situation, in a targeted measure aimed at curbing illegal crossings.
According to the sources, the regulation would compel migrants to be reviewed at the initial asylum screening stage to determine whether they should be denied refuge and quickly deported.
They also noted that the legislation looked to be limited in scope.
Two sources said that the migrants would be checked to see if they were criminals or risks to national security that could stop them from getting asylum.
One of the individuals, a U.S. official, told Reuters that the new law will increase efficiency by evaluating asylum seekers early in the process to assess whether they should be barred.
The proposed regulation will be issued first and then finalized later, according to the official.
Since assuming office in 2021, U.S. President Joe Biden, a Democrat running for re-election on November 5, has struggled with record numbers of migrants apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border.
Former President Donald Trump, Biden’s Republican challenger, has criticized Biden for rolling back more restrictive Trump-era policies.
According to the sources, the Biden administration has explored a more widespread measure to prevent asylum seekers and migrants at the border using a federal provision used by Trump in his travel bans, but is not currently planning to do so.
Biden imposed new asylum limits last year, but their effectiveness has been hampered by a shortage of capacity to handle arriving migrants.
According to two sources, the law scheduled to be announced this week could result in thousands of people being deported from the United States more rapidly each year, which is a modest figure compared to the overall number of persons captured crossing illegally.
According to a Fox News study, about 7.3 million people have unlawfully crossed the southwest border under President Biden’s watch, which is more than the population of 36 states.
That amount comes from the United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), which has already reported 961,537 border interactions in the current fiscal year, which runs from October to September.
If the present rate of illegal immigration does not drop, fiscal year 2024 would surpass last year’s record of 2,475,669 southwest border contacts – a figure that alone exceeds the population of New Mexico, a border state.
The overall number of southwest land border interactions since Biden took office in 2021 is 7,298,486, according to CBP data.
When compared to the largest U.S. states, the 7.3 million figure represents around 18.7% of California’s 39 million population, 23.9% of Texas’ 31 million citizens, 32.3% of Florida’s population, and 37.3% of New York. It is over half the size of Pennsylvania, Illinois, and Ohio.
If the number of illegal immigrants who entered the United States under President Biden were gathered together to form a city, it would be the second-largest in America behind New York. And the figure does not include an estimated 1.8 million known “gotaways” who eluded law enforcement, making it larger than New York.
During the Biden administration, approximately 10 million migrants entered the United States illegally, a number that detractors claim could only have been attained by willfully refusing to enforce the law.
“This unprecedented surge in illegal immigration isn’t an accident. It is the result of deliberate policy choices by the Biden administration,” said Eric Ruark, Director of Research for Numbers USA, a nonprofit that advocates for immigration restrictions.
Despite Biden’s election year attempt to appear as if he cares about the border, it looks like it’s going to come up short.
