The Left has a major problem with their image. And this isn’t going to make things look any better.
Because now jaws dropped over who Democrats just completely sold out.
A bill authorizing the deportation of immigrants who attack police officers cleared the House on Wednesday, but not before 148 Democrats opposed it.
The law passed with a vote of 265-148, despite opposition from an unusually large number of Democrats.
According to Fox News, 54 Democrats crossed the aisle to vote with Republicans to support the bill.
Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-NJ) sponsored the Detain and Deport Illegal Aliens Who Assault Cops Act (HR7343), which was presented as part of the GOP’s attempts to promote National Police Week.
“There is no reason that an illegal alien who attacks our law enforcement should remain in our country; that shows zero respect for our rule of law or our institutions, and they will not be positive contributors to society,” Van Drew said when he filed the bill.
He continued:
My bill would require that federal law enforcement detain these individuals until they are deported from the country. In addition, it will create a new category for migrant inadmissibility, which specifically bars illegal aliens from remaining in our country who have been charged with, arrested for, convicted of, or admitted to committing assault against law enforcement officers.
The law was introduced in response to an attack on many New York City Police officers in broad daylight by a large number of illegal aliens, the majority of whom were released by Alvin Bragg, New York City’s George Soros-backed prosecutor.
Van Drew slammed the Democrats after the majority of them voted to promote violent illegal immigrants.
“Today, Democrats had a choice between standing up for our law enforcement or standing with illegal immigrants,” he wrote in X, adding, “Unsurprisingly, they chose illegal immigrants.”

Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-MN) agreed with Van Drew, telling Fox News, “House Democrats just voted to protect violent illegal immigrants over our brave law enforcement officers. Once again, the Democrat Party proves they are the most anti-law enforcement party in history.”
The vote comes on the heels of the House GOP releasing a scathing report about Biden’s complete dereliction of duty when it comes to immigration.
In it, they quote Fox News with some truly staggering statistics:
The numbers of Border Patrol nationwide gotaways — illegal immigrants who avoided agents but were detected by other forms of surveillance such as cameras and sensors — were obtained by a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request filed by Fox in October.
They show that between FY 2010 and FY 2020 inclusive, there were over 1.4 million gotaways, ranging from a low of 86,226 in FY 2011 to a high of 171,663 in FY 2013.
In FY 2020, there were 136,808 gotaways at the border. That number then rose to 387,398 in FY 2021, which coincided with the last months of the Trump administration and the first months of the Biden administration.
As the migrant numbers at the southern border rose to crisis levels, so did the number of gotaways — with numbers then skyrocketing to 606,131 in FY 2022 and 670,674 in FY 23.
