Donald Trump doesn’t trust Mike Pence anymore. Now we know why.
Because Mike Pence has infuriated Donald Trump with this disgraceful announcement.
Mike Pence Opposes Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s Nomination for HHS Secretary
Former Vice President Mike Pence voiced strong opposition on Friday to President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Robert F. Kennedy Jr. as Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Pence, a staunch advocate for the pro-life movement, argued that Kennedy’s record on abortion rights would represent a significant departure from the Republican Party’s long-standing pro-life platform.
“For the majority of his career, RFK Jr. has defended abortion on demand during all nine months of pregnancy, supports overturning the Dobbs decision and has called for legislation to codify Roe v. Wade,” Pence said. “If confirmed, RFK, Jr. would be the most pro-abortion Republican appointed secretary of HHS in modern history. The pro-life movement has always looked to the Republican Party to stand for life, to affirm an unborn child has a fundamental right to life which cannot be infringed.”
Pence’s statement emphasized the contrast between Kennedy’s views and the pro-life policies enacted during the Trump administration. Under Trump, Pence highlighted several key initiatives aimed at protecting the rights of the unborn, including measures that shielded healthcare providers from being forced to perform abortions against their consciences. The administration also issued directives and reallocated funding within HHS to support the pro-life cause.
“The Trump-Pence administration was unapologetically pro-life for our four years in office,” Pence stated. “There are hundreds of decisions made at HHS every day that either lead our nation toward a respect for life or away from it, and HHS under our administration always stood for life.”

Pence expressed concern that Kennedy’s appointment would represent a stark departure from this pro-life legacy. He called on Senate Republicans to reject the nomination, warning that it would be troubling for millions of pro-life Americans who have supported the Republican Party’s stance on abortion for decades. “I believe the nomination of RFK Jr. to serve as Secretary of HHS is an abrupt departure from the pro-life record of our administration and should be deeply concerning to millions of Pro-Life Americans who have supported the Republican Party and our nominees for decades,” Pence said.
Kennedy’s stance on abortion has been a point of controversy throughout his political career. In May, he declared his support for women seeking full-term abortions. However, he later clarified that his position is to support abortion only until the point of fetal viability. His campaign further noted that Kennedy “does not support legislation banning abortion” and believes that abortion should “always” remain a woman’s choice.
President-elect Trump, who has distanced himself from the more conservative factions of his party on abortion, has also expressed opposition to a federal abortion ban. He has increasingly supported healthcare initiatives such as taxpayer-funded in-vitro fertilization treatments, further signaling his divergence from the pro-life wing of the GOP.
Vice President-elect JD Vance also weighed in on the matter, stating in October that the Republican Party is “sick of the nationalized culture war on this topic” and advocating for returning the issue of abortion to individual states rather than the federal government.
Pence urged Senate Republicans to reject Kennedy’s nomination, framing the decision as a critical moment for the pro-life movement. “On behalf of tens of millions of pro-life Americans, I respectfully urge Senate Republicans to reject this nomination and give the American people a leader who will respect the sanctity of life as secretary of Health and Human Services,” he said.
