Joe Biden’s relationship with the Democrat Party is deteriorating. He’s losing allies very quickly.
And a former Obama adviser hit Biden where it hurts with this shocking betrayal.
Axelrod Blasts Biden Over Family Pardons
Former Obama adviser David Axelrod criticized former President Joe Biden on Tuesday for issuing preemptive pardons to members of his family, calling the move both cowardly and damaging.
“That was egregious, 10 minutes before the inauguration they announced that he’s pardoned members of his family. I mean, man up! You know what I mean? Man up, and if you’re gonna do it, do it, but don’t do it literally as you have one foot out the door so you don’t have to explain it or be accountable for it,” Axelrod said while speaking on his podcast, Hacks on Tap, according to Mediaite.
Axelrod further argued that the timing of the pardons undermined efforts to hold Donald Trump accountable for the January 6 Capitol riots.
“What they did was they gave Trump a gift because it fuzzied up the story, the J6 story for him, and you heard him last night,” Axelrod added, referring to Trump’s criticism of the pardons.
Shortly before President Trump’s inauguration, the Biden White House announced the preemptive pardons for James Biden, Sara Jones Biden, Valerie Biden Owens, John Owens, and Francis Biden.
The outgoing president defended the decision, citing concerns that his family could be subjected to “politically motivated investigations.”
Axelrod did not mince words about the optics. “Could you end a presidency as badly as he has? I mean, Trump did,” he remarked, describing Biden’s actions as “particularly sleazy.”
Axelrod’s podcast co-host, Mike Murphy, echoed his disapproval. “It showed a lack of b*lls,” Murphy said, though he acknowledged that some of the pardons might have been justified due to alleged threats from Trump. Axelrod doubled down: “Just man the h*ll up and say I’m doing it because this guy [Trump] threatened my family, threatened these people who are doing their jobs. I mean, man up!”
The fallout has drawn criticism from both sides of the political aisle. Former President Trump seized on the moment to highlight what he views as hypocrisy from Biden. “Now, maybe every president that leaves office, they’re gonna pardon every person they ever met,” Trump quipped. “I think it makes you look very guilty. I think it makes Biden look very bad, very weak, and very guilty.”
Biden’s “No One Is Above the Law” Stance Under Fire
Biden’s decision to pardon his family has drawn attention to a glaring contradiction in his rhetoric. When Trump was found guilty during his hush money case last year, Biden emphasized that “no one is above the law.” However, these pardons, issued at the eleventh hour of his presidency, suggest otherwise.
Critics argue that by shielding his family from potential investigations, Biden undermined his own claims about the importance of accountability. The move not only set a precedent for future presidents but also cast doubt on his sincerity.
This is not the first time Biden has faced accusations of double standards. His criticism of Trump’s alleged abuses of power often focused on the need for transparency and justice. Yet, by issuing pardons under the pretext of avoiding politically motivated investigations, Biden seemed to prioritize his family’s protection over the principles he claimed to uphold.
Observers have also noted the political ramifications. By adopting the same tactics he once criticized, Biden has inadvertently handed Trump and his allies ammunition to question his credibility.
Axelrod’s remarks emphasizes the sentiment shared by many: that Biden’s actions, while perhaps legally defensible, were politically tone-deaf and morally questionable.
In the end, Biden’s pardons further damaged his legacy and were a fitting end to a disastrous presidency.
