The Leftist media is always trying to undermine the president. They want him politically destroyed.

And 60 Minutes is doing one damaging thing to Donald Trump that’s causing all hell to break loose.

As CBS News’ parent company weighs the possibility of settling a lawsuit brought by President Donald Trump, 60 Minutes executive producer Bill Owens remains unyielding in his defense of the program’s editorial decisions.

Owens, who has helmed the iconic investigative news show since 2019, addressed the controversy in a staff meeting on Monday, making it clear that he has no intention of backing down.

“There have been reports in the media about a settlement and/or apology,” Owens reportedly told staff, according to The New York Times. “The company knows I will not apologize for anything we have done.”

The legal dispute centers on a lawsuit Trump filed in October, seeking $10 billion in damages over what he claims was election interference. His complaint alleges that CBS News deliberately manipulated its 60 Minutes interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris, presenting a more polished response in the final broadcast to shield her from criticism.

Trump’s legal team contends that an excerpt of Harris’ interview aired on Face the Nation showcased her stumbling through an answer regarding Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. In the preview clip, she responded to a question about whether Netanyahu was ignoring the Biden administration by offering a meandering response:

“Well, Bill, the work that we have done has resulted in a number of movements in that region by Israel that were very much prompted by, or a result of, many things, including our advocacy for what needs to happen in the region.”

Critics on the right derided her remarks as a “word salad.” However, when the segment aired during the primetime election special, a more concise and coherent response was broadcast instead:

“We are not going to stop pursuing what is necessary for the United States to be clear about where we stand on the need for this war to end.”

The lawsuit accuses CBS News of deliberately editing Harris’ answer to make her appear more composed, and Trump’s attorneys argue the changes were designed to benefit his Democratic opponent ahead of the 2024 election.

“To paper over Kamala’s ‘word salad’ weakness, CBS used its national platform on 60 Minutes to cross the line from the exercise of judgment in reporting to deceitful, deceptive manipulation of news,” the lawsuit claims.

Now, CBS News faces mounting pressure to release the full transcript of the interview, with a deadline set by Trump-appointed Federal Communication Commission (FCC) chairman Brendan Carr.

“The edit is perfectly fine; let’s put that to bed so we can get on with our lives,” Owens reportedly stated in response to the issue of the transcript, according to the New York Times.

Meanwhile, Paramount Global, CBS News’ parent company, is reportedly considering settling the lawsuit as it pursues a high-stakes merger with Skydance Media. Shari Redstone, Paramount’s controlling shareholder, is said to be in favor of reaching a settlement.

The speculation over a settlement comes on the heels of two other major payouts to Trump in recent weeks.

ABC News agreed to a $15 million settlement along with a written apology, while Meta settled with the president for $25 million.

With legal and corporate pressures mounting, CBS must navigate a complex landscape — one where media integrity, business interests, and political power are colliding in dramatic fashion.

And iff they don’t navigate it correctly, then the American people will further lose trust in them like they are with the mainstream media as a whole.
