Ocasio-Cortez is one of the most radical Leftists in Congress. Her ideology is completely against everything America stands for.
And AOC has vowed to destroy this crucial government agency that protects millions.
Republicans Slam Ocasio-Cortez Over Push to Dismantle ICE
Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the radical Leftist from New York, has reignited controversy with a recent fundraising email calling for the abolition of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). Her stance has drawn sharp criticism from Republicans, who see it as a move that clashes with efforts to strengthen border security.
In the email, obtained by Fox News Digital, Ocasio-Cortez declared, “I believe that ICE, an agency that was just formed in 2003 during the Patriot Act era, is a rogue agency that should not exist.” The statement aligns with her long-standing opposition to the agency, a position she championed during her 2018 campaign when she ousted veteran Democratic incumbent Rep. Joe Crowley.
The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), the campaign arm for House Republicans, swiftly condemned Ocasio-Cortez’s remarks. In a post on X, the NRCC accused her of using the “abolish ICE” call to fuel her fundraising efforts, framing it as part of an extreme agenda.
NRCC spokesman Mike Marinella told Fox News Digital, “House Democrat Minority Leader AOC is doubling down on their party’s most extreme, unhinged agenda, while the rest of her party is bending their knee to the radical wing. At this rate, the Democrat platform in 2026 will be a fever dream of defunding the police, wide open borders, and far-left hellscapes.”
Ocasio-Cortez’s email also addressed why she’s often labeled as “extreme,” a term she’s repeatedly confronted in her campaign communications, according to a Fox News Digital review.
She argued it stems from her advocacy for policies like Medicare for All, the Green New Deal, and “democratic socialism,” as well as her reliance on small-dollar donations and her belief that ICE should “not exist.” She posed the question directly to her supporters: “Why are you considered to be extreme?”
The backlash extended beyond the NRCC. Tricia McLaughlin, DHS Assistant Secretary, told Fox News Digital:
“Pathetic, yet predictable from AOC. This kind of demonization of ICE officers has led to our officers facing a 413% increase in assaults. While bottom-barrel politicians like AOC fight to protect criminal illegal aliens, our ICE officers will continue putting their lives and safety on the line to arrest m*rderers, kidnappers, and p*dophiles that were let into our country by the Biden Administration’s open border policies.”
White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson also weighed in, stating to Fox News Digital, “AOC, Democrat Party leader, calls for abolishing ICE. Meanwhile, the brave men and women of ICE get dangerous criminal illegal immigrants off our streets and protect American citizens. Why does AOC want to stop that?”
Ocasio-Cortez’s push to eliminate ICE isn’t new. She was a leading voice in the “abolish ICE” movement during her 2018 campaign for the U.S. House, opposing President Donald Trump’s immigration policies.
Older and more centrist Democrats have largely avoided such calls, but younger progressives like David Hogg, DNC vice chair, have echoed her sentiments.
Hogg, who has stirred controversy within his party for proposing primary challenges against long-serving Democrats in safe districts, has also advocated for abolishing ICE.
Speaking at a Montana event during Sen. Bernie Sanders’ “Fighting Oligarchy” Tour, Ocasio-Cortez painted a dire picture, saying, “We must acknowledge the terrifying moment that we are in right now, and that what we are hearing and seeing with our own eyes is, in fact, happening. We are watching as our neighbors, students and friends are being fired, targeted and disappeared. It is real. People we love are being targeted and harassed for being LGBTQ. Our co-workers, U.S. citizens and immigrants alike are being disappeared off the street by men in vans with no uniform.”
Her ongoing feud with Trump’s border czar, Tom Homan, has intensified. Ocasio-Cortez has advised her constituents on how to obstruct ICE arrests, even hosting a February webinar on handling ICE agents, which has sparked talk of a potential Department of Justice investigation.
Since President Trump’s return to office, his administration has prioritized a tough stance on immigration. ICE reported arresting 66,463 illegal immigrants and removing 65,682 in the first 100 days of his second term, with three in four of those arrested accused of criminal activity.
Public sentiment, as reflected in the 2024 Fox News Voter Analysis, leans heavily toward Trump on immigration, with 52% of voters favoring his approach compared to 36% for Vice President Kamala Harris. For 20% of voters, immigration ranked as the top issue facing the nation.
