CNN”s Jake Tapper’s Cynical Cash-In on Biden’s Decline

Fox News host Will Cain unleashed a blistering critique of CNN anchor Jake Tapper on Thursday, tearing into Tapper’s Original Sin book tour for profiting off revelations about Joe Biden’s mental decline—revelations many Americans already knew but were silenced for voicing. Cain’s exasperation, aired on The Will Cain Show, reflects a growing sentiment among Trump supporters that Tapper and his media allies are now monetizing a truth they once suppressed to protect Biden’s presidency.

During a Wednesday appearance on The Stephen A. Smith Show, Tapper admitted that none of the sources for his book expressed remorse for covering up Biden’s cognitive decline. He also took a swipe at New York prosecutors, like Attorney General Letitia James, for campaigning on targeting President Donald Trump. Cain seized on this, arguing that Tapper’s so-called revelations are old news to those who dared to speak out years ago, only to be smeared as conspiracy theorists or worse. The hypocrisy, Cain argues, is galling—Tapper now profits from a truth he and his colleagues buried.

“One of the things I noticed for years of doing sports media is there’s a horrible trend in the media, and it is to say what is easy and what is popular. But don’t stop there. Swim out into the middle of the river, find that main channel, stay within the safe space, but then try to be the most passionate, try to be the most inflammatory, in saying the thing that everyone already believes,” Cain said. His words capture the frustration of Trump supporters who watched the media, including Tapper, amplify anti-Trump narratives while shielding Biden’s obvious frailties.

Cain didn’t hold back, pointing out the media’s double standards. “Over the last decade, it’s been popular and easy to say that President Trump is guilty of breaking the law or President Trump is a would-be authoritarian. That was safe in their circles and they ran into insanity to be the loudest and most inflammatory in saying those things,” he said. For Trump’s base, this selective outrage—vilifying Trump while ignoring Biden’s decline—reveals a media complicit in shaping narratives to favor one side.

The exhaustion Cain expressed resonates with millions who feel vindicated by the Trump administration’s return. “They defended President Biden at every turn, and I am, for one, exhausted today to wake up and continue to give credit and see the revelations of the mainstream media reporting that the sky is blue, for years of telling us the sky is red — when you and I know the sky is blue,” he continued. For Trump supporters, Tapper’s book tour is less about truth and more about capitalizing on a scandal the media helped create.

Cain played a clip of Tapper admitting that none of his sources regretted their role in the cover-up or believed it was a mistake. This lack of accountability infuriates those who see the media as gatekeepers who suppressed the truth to prop up Biden. Cain’s critique frames Tapper as emblematic of a media failure—one that now seeks to profit from its own complicity while offering half-hearted mea culpas.

“Enough of Jake Tapper, who had the nerve to tell Stephen A. Smith that he also now sees that Letitia James was engaged in lawfare. We knew that,” Cain said. For Trump’s supporters, this is a bitter pill—Tapper’s belated acknowledgment of James’s politically motivated prosecutions comes years after Trump allies were dismissed as paranoid for saying the same. The Trump administration’s focus on draining the swamp finds a clear target in figures like Tapper, who now pivot to truth-telling for profit.

The backlash against Tapper extends beyond Cain. NewsNation’s Chris Cuomo, on May 21, called Tapper’s book a cover-up of a deeper sin: the media’s deliberate downplaying of Biden’s decline to ensure Trump’s defeat. “I do believe the book is a cover for something. It’s a cover for something that’s much more serious to me than Biden’s age and stage ever were: the reality that many in the media knew damn well that Biden was losing it, but they played it down because they wanted Trump to lose more,” Cuomo said. For Trump’s base, this confirms their long-held suspicions of media bias.

Tapper’s own admissions fuel the fire. On his book tour, he’s repeatedly acknowledged, with what he calls “humility,” that he failed to adequately report on Biden’s decline. Yet, for Trump supporters, this self-reflection rings hollow—a convenient rebrand as he cashes in on a scandal he helped perpetuate. The Trump administration’s push for transparency and accountability finds a stark contrast in Tapper’s opportunistic pivot from gatekeeper to whistleblower.

For those celebrating Trump’s return, Tapper’s book tour is a symbol of everything wrong with the media—an institution that suppressed the truth, vilified dissenters, and now seeks to profit from its own failures. Watch for yourself what Jake Tapper is saying and decide what you think.
