Donald Trump knows how to get under the Left’s skin. But now he’s really angered them this time.

And President Trump just made one move that has Democrats falling to their knees.

Democrats Try and Grapple with President Trump’s Iran Strikes

President Donald Trump’s decisive airstrikes targeting Iran’s nuclear facilities have left Democrats scrambling to craft a cohesive response, exposing deep divisions within the party. The attacks on Iran’s Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan sites mark one of the most significant actions of Trump’s second term.

The Democratic reaction has been a patchwork of outrage, support, and strategic hedging. “It’s all over the map,” said Brad Bannon, a Democratic strategist and host of the leftist podcast Deadline DC, in an interview with the New York Post.

“It’s never good when messaging is all over the map,” he added, stressing that the party must find common ground to counter Trump’s aggressive move. “Democrats have to find a way to unite against Trump’s provocations. The implications of this are mind-numbing.”

Some Democrats, particularly on the radical left, wasted no time in condemning the president. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took to X, declaring, “The President’s disastrous decision to bomb Iran without authorization is a grave violation of the Constitution and Congressional War Powers. It is absolutely and clearly grounds for impeachment.” Rep. Sean Casten (D-Ill.) echoed her call, amplifying the push for a third impeachment attempt against Trump.

Yet, the appetite for impeachment appears limited. A Democrat source told the New York Post, “I think impeachment is not a wide sentiment. That’s fringes.”

Meanwhile, a pro-Israel faction within the party has openly endorsed the strikes. Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pa.) was unequivocal: “As I’ve long maintained, this was the correct move. Iran is the world’s leading sponsor of terrorism and cannot have nuclear capabilities. I’m grateful for and salute the finest military in the world.”

Rep. Josh Gottheimer (D-NJ) similarly praised the operation, stating, “The world is safer because of the actions of our brave service members.”

Reps. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) and Jared Moskowitz (D-NJ) offered qualified support, noting the strikes’ impact on global security but emphasizing the need for congressional oversight. “Presidents of both parties have unilaterally undertaken major military operations without Congressional authorization,” Torres said. “If there is a serious effort to reclaim those powers, I would vote for it.”

Democratic leadership, including House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY), has criticized Trump for escalating tensions in the Middle East. Just weeks earlier, Schumer had mocked Trump’s rumored softer stance on Iran’s uranium enrichment, using the acronym TACO—“Trump Always Chickens Out.”

“If TACO Trump is already folding on Iran, the American people need to know about it,” Schumer said then. “No side deals.” Trump’s forceful action has now left those critiques ringing hollow.

“I wish Trump had chickened out on this one,” Bannon remarked dryly. He warned of the strikes’ ripple effects, including risks to U.S. troops and the economy, particularly if Iran targets the Strait of Hormuz, driving up gas prices.

Instead of fixating on impeachment, Bannon urged Democrats to pivot to a forward-looking strategy, such as supporting a bipartisan bill from Reps. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.) and Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) to curb the president’s ability to launch further strikes without congressional approval.

The Democratic source agreed, noting, “What is not fringe is the agreement that the War Powers Act is being violated. Congress consultation ignored.” Many Democrats, the source added, might back strikes in principle but demand more transparency. “There needs to be communication of a plan, grounded by intel and shared with the Gang of Eight,” referring to the bipartisan group of congressional leaders privy to classified intelligence.

As Trump’s Iran policy reshapes the geopolitical landscape, Democrats face a delicate balancing act: condemning Trump while navigating the complex realities of national security and party unity.
