The radical Left can’t believe it. This is not what they needed with the midterms approaching in a little over a year.

And Democrats turned white as a ghost after getting blindsided by this congressional news.

Congressional Democrats Hit Record Low Approval

Congressional Democrats are facing a sharp drop in public support, with a new poll revealing their approval rating has sunk to an all-time low. A Quinnipiac University Poll, released Wednesday, found that just 19% of registered voters are satisfied with the job Democrats in Congress are doing, the lowest figure since the poll began tracking this in 2009.

The discontent runs deep even among Democratic voters, with 52% disapproving of their party’s congressional performance and only 39% expressing approval.

“If the approval numbers for Republicans are bad … then the approval numbers for Democrats can be characterized as flat out terrible,” said Tim Malloy, a Quinnipiac polling analyst, in a statement.’

Republican Contrast

By comparison, Republicans in Congress are faring better, with 33% of voters approving of their work and 62% disapproving. Among Republican voters, support is strong, with 77% approving of their party’s efforts on Capitol Hill and just 20% voicing disapproval.

The survey, conducted from July 10 to 14 among nearly 1,300 registered voters, followed the passage of the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, which cleared Congress without any backing from Democrats.

Republicans are also pushing forward with a $9.4 billion rescissions package to cut funding from USAID, NPR, and PBS, highlighting Democratic struggles to counter GOP initiatives.

Since President Trump’s second-term inauguration, Democrats in Congress have seemed unable to slow his agenda. The party’s challenges deepened after losing the Senate and seeing Republicans gain ground in the House in the elections in November.

Without a clear leader to steer them through this new political era, Democrats appear adrift, and voter confidence reflects this.

Polls have consistently shown dwindling trust in the party. A Gallup poll in April recorded confidence in Democratic congressional leadership at a historic low of 25%.

Waning Confidence Across Demographics

Among younger voters under 30, approval is even lower, with just 23% expressing support, according to a Harvard Kennedy School Institute of Politics survey from the same month. These numbers follow earlier lows in March, when CNN and NBC News polls measured Democratic favorability at 29% and approval at 27%.

With approval ratings at rock bottom and internal unity fraying, congressional Democrats face an uphill battle as they prepare for the 2026 midterm elections.

If Democrats can’t get a hold on things, then they will see President Trump implement his agenda further for the remainder of his term. This in turn could lead to their defeat again in the 2028 elections where they could lose the presidency and both chambers of Congress like they did in 2024.

And since there’s no real leader in the Democrat Party, it’s likely at the moment that a repeat of the 2024 elections occurs again. But Republicans have to stay focused if they want this to be a reality.
