Donald Trump is used to attacks from the Left. It’s all they do at this point.

And Democrats collapsed to the floor after this failed attempt to bring down Trump.

On Monday, President Donald Trump made an announcement detailing new measures aimed at addressing the rising crime wave in Washington, DC. In a move intended to confront what he described as an “emergency” situation, Trump revealed that he would invoke Section 740 of the District of Columbia Home Rule Act, “placing the DC Metropolitan Police Department under direct federal control.” Additionally, he activated the National Guard to help combat the escalating violence in the capital.

During a press conference, Trump expressed frustration with the current state of the city, which he argued had deteriorated significantly. “This is an emergency. This is a tragic emergency, and it’s embarrassing for me to be up here… I don’t like being up here talking about how unsafe and how dirty and disgusting this once beautiful capital was with graffiti all over the walls,” he said.

He went on to highlight the severe impact of crime, describing a city “overtaken by violent gangs and bloodthirsty criminals, roving mobs of wild youth, drugged-out maniacs, and homeless people.”

While Trump’s call for federal intervention was a direct response to the alarming rise in crime, many Democrats were quick to mock the president’s actions on social media, particularly on the platform X.

In an apparent attempt to troll Trump, the Democratic Party’s official account shared a map of DC with the White House circled, accompanied by the caption, “Found the home base of criminals in D.C.”

This attempt at humor did not go unnoticed by users of the platform, who swiftly fired back. Many pointed out the irony by sharing images of former Presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, as well as members of their administrations.

One user responded by sarcastically circling the Democratic National Committee (DNC) headquarters and writing, “Fixed it for you.”

Other responses came in a similar vein. “You guys should probably avoid playing this game,” one commenter quipped, sharing a map showing locations of fatal shootings in the city.

Another added, “Democrats are cheering on crime in DC,” while others took jabs at the Biden administration’s handling of crime, with remarks like, “You’re late the Biden Crime Family has left the building,” and “The Dems were evicted back in January, babe.”

Some users also directed their criticism at the escalating crime rates in the nation’s capital. “Just going to ignore that the m*rder/crime rate in DC is the highest in the country, then?” one commenter wrote.

“Good luck with this strategy. It’s a 90/10 issue. People want safety for their families, and Democrats consistently drop the ball (on purpose?).”

Trump, for his part, emphasized that the issue of rising crime in DC was not a partisan one. “I understand a lot of you tend to be on the liberal side, but … you don’t want to get mugged and r*ped and shot and k*lled,” he stated.

“You want to be able to leave your apartment or your house where you live and feel safe and go into a store to buy a newspaper or buy something, and you don’t have that now,” Trump said.

As the debate over crime in the nation’s capital continues, the back-and-forth between Trump and his Democratic critics points to the growing divide over how to address safety and law enforcement in urban centers.
