The media has it out for Trump and his agenda. But this takes it too far.
Now the mainstream media’s ties to the Texas ICE shooter are revealed for all to see.
Dallas ICE Shooting Tied to Apps Tracking Agents
FBI Director Kash Patel revealed Thursday that the gunman who attacked an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in Dallas on Wednesday had searched for apps that track ICE agents’ locations, raising alarms about tools that conservatives argue endanger law enforcement. The shooter, 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, k*lled an illegal immigrant detainee, wounded two others, and then took his own life. The revelation, shared by Patel on X, emphasizes a conservative concern: that media amplification of these apps fuels violence against those protecting our borders.
Evidence of Premeditated Attack
Patel disclosed chilling details of Jahn’s planning, including searches for ballistics, a “Charlie Kirk Shot Video,” and a document listing Dallas DHS facilities.
Most disturbingly, between August 19-24, Jahn sought apps that pinpoint ICE agents’ locations—tools ICE’s Marcos Charles called a “casting call to invite bad actors to invite law enforcement officers” at a Thursday press conference.
“It’s no different than giving the hit man the location of their intended target, and this is exactly what we saw happen in Dallas yesterday,” Charles said, slamming media for promoting such apps despite warnings. A handwritten note by Jahn read: “Hopefully this will give ICE agents real terror, to think, ‘is there a sniper with AP rounds on that roof?’” Patel confirmed a “high degree of pre-attack planning,” with the FBI working round-the-clock to analyze evidence.
CNN’s Coverage of “ICE Block” Sparks Outrage
The spotlight turned to CNN, whose earlier coverage of the “ICE Block” app drew fierce criticism. A story headlined “‘I wanted to do something to fight back’: This iPhone app alerts users to nearby ICE sightings” detailed how users can anonymously report agents’ locations, including clothing or vehicle details, to help evade arrests.
ICE flagged the June segment as a threat to agents’ safety, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt called it “unacceptable” for promoting “an app that is encouraging violence against law enforcement officers who are trying to keep our country safe.”
On Thursday, Leavitt doubled down: “Three months ago, CNN irresponsibly gave free publicity to an app that recklessly shares the location of ICE Agents. It has now been revealed the leftist lunatic shooter who opened fire on the Dallas ICE Facility was using one of these apps.” She accused the liberal media of distorting ICE’s mission while ignoring the criminals they apprehend.
CNN defended its reporting, stating to The Daily Wire: “This is an app that is publicly available to any iPhone user who wants to download it. There is nothing illegal about reporting the existence of this or any other app, nor does such reporting constitute promotion or other endorsement of the CNN.”
They noted reaching out to ICE before publishing and updating the story with the agency’s response. Yet conservatives argue this coverage normalizes tools that undermine law enforcement, amplifying a dangerous anti-ICE narrative.
A Call for Media Accountability
With ICE facing a 1,000% surge in assaults since January, including ambushes in Texas, conservatives see the Dallas shooting as a breaking point. The media’s role in spotlighting apps like ICE Block—while often vilifying agents as Gestapo or worse—has real-world consequences, they argue.
Charles’ lament, “We truly wish we didn’t have to say we told you so, but here we are,” resonates as a plea for responsibility. As America grapples with rising threats to its law enforcement, conservatives demand the press prioritize the safety of those who serve over sensationalism that puts lives at risk.
