Donald Trump is breaking the mold. Now he’s doing something unheard of.

Because he pledged to use the U.S. military to defend one religious group.

Trump Vows U.S. Intervention to Halt Christian Genocide

On November 5, President Donald Trump vowed that the United States is fully prepared to step in and protect Christians facing genocide in nations around the globe.

“We stand ready, willing, and able to save our great Christian population around the world. This is not going to happen,” Trump declared in a powerful video address delivered from the White House. “The k*lling of Christians is not going to happen.”

Nigeria Designated “Country of Particular Concern” After 3,100 M*rders

He spotlighted the horrific situation in Nigeria, where Islamist extremists have been slaughtering believers by the thousands simply for their faith.

“Thousands and thousands of Christians are being k*lled. Radical Islamists are responsible for this mass slaughter,” he stated. “I am hereby making Nigeria a Country of Particular Concern (CPC). That’s a legal definition.”

Drawing from the freshly released Open Doors 2025 World Watch List, Trump revealed that 4,476 Christians were m*rdered for their beliefs worldwide last year—approximately 3,100 of them in Nigeria alone.

He immediately tasked Rep. Riley Moore (R-W.Va.) and House Appropriations Chairman Tom Cole (R-Okla.) to dive into the crisis without delay, making it clear that the U.S. “cannot stand by while such atrocities are happening” in Nigeria and beyond.

As CatholicVote has highlighted before, the Open Doors report shows over 280 million Christians—one in every seven worldwide—endure extreme persecution, discrimination, and violence.

North Korea still tops the list as the deadliest place to follow Christ, with Nigeria ranking a chilling seventh. Believers in Pakistan, Syria, Myanmar, and India continue to suffer attacks, arrests, and forced displacement.

Lawmakers Mobilize as Pentagon Prepares “Possible Action”

Rep. Moore, a devout Catholic, fired off a grateful message on X, praising Trump for his “incredible leadership in defending persecuted Christians, especially in Nigeria.”

“Your bold and decisive action to protect our brothers and sisters in Christ will save thousands of lives,” Moore wrote. “I am on it and will have more for you soon.”

This latest move follows Trump’s earlier warnings to Nigeria’s government: stop the bloodshed or face American consequences.

Just days ago, on November 1, he revealed he had already ordered the Department of War to “prepare for possible action” if the massacres continue—one day after first floating the CPC designation.
