The president and VP have been shunned. Pettiness is very much alive in the political world.

And Donald Trump and JD Vance were snubbed by these bitter GOP rivals.

Cheney Family Snubs Trump and Vance at Funeral

President Donald Trump was not invited to Dick Cheney’s funeral, per Axios. JD Vance also did not receive an invitation, according to what CNN gathered from a source.

The sitting President and Vice President of the United States—both Republicans—were deliberately excluded from a state-style memorial for a former vice president.

This isn’t just rude. It’s a neon sign screaming that the old-guard neocons would rather clutch pearls with Joe Biden and Kamala Harris than stand in the same cathedral as the leaders of the new Republican Party.

Dick Cheney passed away on November 3 at age 84 from complications of pneumonia and cardiac disease, according to Breitbart News. Normally, sitting presidents attend these events as a matter of protocol.

The bad blood goes straight back to January 6 and Liz Cheney’s doomed crusade. Dick Cheney cut an ad in 2022 calling Trump a “coward” and a “threat” for his daughter’s failing campaign.

Per a report from Breitbart News, George W. Bush eulogized his old running mate as a “calm and steady presence” and “among the finest public servants of his generation.”

But the Left spent twenty years calling Dick Cheney Darth Vader and a war criminal.

Then Trump came along, called those wars the disasters they were, and suddenly conservatives started asking why they were still bleeding for Cheney’s legacy.

Choosing Democrats Over Republicans

The animosity was always mutual. Cheney and his daughter spent the last years of his life campaigning for Democrats. They even endorsed Kamala Harris.

They weren’t just never-Trump—they were actively pro-Harris. And now, even after Trump crushed Harris in 2024, the Cheneys still can’t bring themselves to show basic respect to the man the American people chose—twice.

Trump’s Victory Lap

Right after his landslide win, Trump torched the Democrat-Cheney alliance on Truth Social: “The Democrats made a BIG mistake in getting Crazy Liz Chaney, and her father, Dick, involved in their campaign for President.”

“It made the Republicans angry, and the Democrats just plain scratching their heads in amazement. It is always a bad idea to bring ‘losers’ into a political campaign!”

He wasn’t wrong. The Cheney endorsement was the kiss of death. Voters likely saw it and said, “If Dick Cheney and Kamala Harris are on the same side, I’m voting the other way.”
